Love Island season 11 concluded on July 29, 2024. It saw Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan create history by becoming the first Black couple to win the dating show. However, their love story could not survive the test of time. On September 30, 2024, Mimii took to her official Instagram handle to announce that she had parted ways with Josh, citing their struggles to connect outside the villa.
Ardent fans of the show and the former couple's well-wishers noticed the couple's absence from each other's social media feeds in the past few weeks. They were also reportedly seen out separately.
Mimii shared pictures from night outs with fellow islanders Una Jammeh, Nicole Samuel, Jessy Potts, and Patsy Field. Meanwhile, Josh was spotted attending events without her including the Beetlejuice premiere in London.
Their chemistry inside the villa could not translate into the real world, ending their relationship two months after the finale. Josh and Mimii were not the only ones who called it quits after the cameras stopped rolling. Most recently, Joey Essex and Jessy Potts announced in September that they parted ways seven weeks after leaving the villa.

Josh and Mimii's split came as a shock to many fans of Love Island. However, some claimed their incompatibility was evident. Consequently, they took to X to react to the news.

Love Island star Mimii thanked the fans for their unwavering support in her Instagram post
Mimii announced her split from Josh via Instagram Stories on September 30, 2024. In her statement, she emphasized their incompatibility outside the villa, citing it as one of the primary reasons for their breakup.
"Hi, everyone, I know that a lot of you have been wondering about Josh and I and why we haven't been making appearances. The truth is we have been trying to figure it out since leaving the villa, but unfortunately things aren't going to work out between us right now," Mimii wrote.
She added that she knew it would be "a big disappointment" for many fans. Nonetheless, she was thankful for how they supported her and Josh ever since Love Island ended. She wrote she would "forever be grateful for it," crediting the fans for their victory on the show.
Josh and Mimii won season 11 of Love Island with 41% of the votes. Host Maya Jama was among those who rooted for the couple. Josh and Mimii even had plans to distribute time between each other's home cities. While Josh lived in London, Mimii resided in Portsmouth. However, things did not work out as planned and the couple went their separate ways.
