Nelly discussed her miscarriages in episode 2 of The Great British Bake Off

Dorset resident, Nelly, is a palliative care assistant and a mother of two. She's a self-taught cook whose love for sweet things emerged after she attempted a neighbor's gingerbread recipe. In the latest episode, she narrated the story of her unborn children through her baking.

Each contestant was asked to make a fully edible puppet theater out of biscuits. Nelly chose to make a forest filled with green trees and five stars. The Great British Bake Off contestant explained that the five stars represented her experience with five pregnancy losses.

"These stars represent my five unborn children," she said.

She then pointed at two of them, stating they were for her twins. Even though she couldn't birth them, she said that she carried them in her "genes."

"Even if you don't birth them, you carry them in you, all your life. you've got the genes in, so I can't miss them on my show, can I?" Nelly added.

The Great British Bake Off contestant explained the significance behind the star-shaped cookies and the forest, saying, it represented all the "horrible obstacles" she had to overcome. Despite being "dark and painful" there was a light in every forest. Although "teeny weeny," it gave her the courage to chase the "big one."

By the end of the episode, Jeff quit due to medical reasons, whereas Hazel was eliminated.
