American Idol season 22 aired its season finale on Sunday, May 19, 2024. During the segment, fans saw the top three take to the stage once again in an attempt to impress the judges and the country one last time with their vocals before one of them was crowned as the winner of the ABC singing competition.
During the live streamed segment, nine-time Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish gave one of the contestants, Abi Carter, a shoutout which was played out on screen. While Carter couldn't believe it and was beyond happy, fans of the show had mixed reactions about the same.

American Idol season 22 finale: Billie Eilish has a message for Abi Carter
In the American Idol season 22 finale, the top three performed one last time in an attempt to gather enough votes to win the ABC show. As part of the final segment, Bon Jovi served as a mentor for the remaining contestants, Abi Carter, Jack Blocker, and Will Moseley.
The episode started with the top three singing Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. Before the finale started, the contestants met up with the legendary singer to prepare and Abi told him she wanted to perform Bed of Roses.
He told her to copy his version and to sing it in her way. When she took to the stage, Bon Jovi praised her rendition and said she was "the whole package".

The room may be cheering but if you're not voting from home it doesn't mean anything, so you better vote.
The American Idol season 22 finalist was then informed that she had a special message. A video message from Eilish was then played for her.
"I love you so much. I wish you nothing but the best, and I just can't wait to see what happens tonight. I'm here to support you forever," Eilish said.
