Kristin Cavallari, a former star of The Hills, had a close relationship with Kourtney Kardashian until a rumor surfaced in 2011. According to People magazine's November 26 report, there were rumors that Kristin had allegedly hooked up with Kardashian's then-boyfriend, Scott Disick.
Despite Cavallari's insistence that Scott Disick had allegedly fabricated the story for publicity, the Kardashians decided to end any sort of ties with her. Kristin later suggested that the rumor was a diversion to shift attention away from Kim Kardashian's divorce to Kris Humphries.
In an episode of her podcast, Let's Be Honest, that was released on November 26, 2024, Cavallari recalled the incident and said that Scott Disick had sent her a direct message on social media recently, and invited her to meet up, after reportedly not being in contact since.
Later, The Real Housewives of New York City's Erin Lichy came to Scott Disick's defense in a TikTok video. Erin revealed that she and Scott Disick had spent time together in the Hamptons when they were both young. Erin described Scott Disick as a good guy who had recently faced some personal struggles of his own, including the loss of both his parents.
As Kristin called Scott "manipulative", Erin expressed confusion over the characterization of Scott and insinuated that Scott could have been attempting to reconnect.
"I’m feeling like I need to weigh in a little bit. Like it’s bothering me. I actually grew up pretty good friends with Scott. We were in the same group. Especially in the Hamptons," said Erin in her video.
Further adding:
"He’s a great guy. Like he’s not a bad person. Based on what (Kristen) was reading, I’m so confused how that’s manipulative. Like it sounds like a nice person reaching out."
Kristin Cavallari felt that Scott's text to reconnect with her was "manipulative"
As mentioned earlier, Kristin Cavallari addressed the long-standing rumor about her alleged affair with Scott Disick during the November podcast episode titled, Cavallari is a Freakin Trainwreck!
She started by recalling that she was friends with both Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian before the rumor came up in 2011. The rumor claimed she slept with Scott while he was on a break with Kourtney in Las Vegas.
Kristin later denied the rumor and also gave her theory on the matter that she came up with a mutual friend, Stew, and suspected Scott's involvement in planting the rumor. Kristin attempted to reconnect with Kourtney, but the two couldn't find a middle ground.
“I know for a fact [he did this] to piss off Kourtney. A lot of times when a girl sees that a guy has moved on, they’re like, ‘I want him back.’ … And it worked. They got back together,” Kristin concluded.
Kristin Cavallari expressed that she felt that Kourtney was looking for an excuse to end their friendship. Kristin also suspected that the rumor was leaked to divert attention away from Kim Kardashian's divorce. During the podcast, Kristin Cavallari mentioned that she had recently received direct messages from Scott Disick on Instagram.
Kristin was surprised as he hadn't heard from Scott in a while. Kristin went on to share the message, in which Scott inquired about her well-being. However, Kristin believed that the message was an attempt at manipulation and control, particularly given the timing.
Kristin Cavallari had been publicly criticizing the Kardashians for months by that time, and she believed that Scott's message was an attempt to defuse the situation and regain control of the narrative.
"If this isn't the most manipulative text I've ever gotten. This is classic textbook manipulation and control," stated Kristin Cavallari.
She also stated:
"This is Hollywood, when you're out their talking and they don't like that, this is what they do to try and silence you and control you."
The Real Housewives of New York City is set to return on January 7, 2025, at 9/8c on Bravo.
