The Real Housewives of New York City season 15 released episode 13, Dinner Disasters and Breakfast Breakdowns, on January 7, 2025. It showcased Erin having an emotional breakdown after hearing Ubah's comment about cancer patients and the inevitability of death. It triggered Erin since it reminded her of her parents, both of whom were diagnosed with cancer.

It all happened when Erin asked Ubah to forget her dispute with Brynn. Ubah refused to reconcile, saying she would rather pick the people she wanted in her friend circle than spend her vacation with "bullies." While speaking about the ability to make the choice, Ubah said:

"Life is very difficult. You can't stop your mom from dying. When you go to the doctor and they say you have cancer, you can't stop that. There's some things inevitable in life and you just have to deal with it and find a support system and go through with it."

The comment did not sit right with Erin, who left the breakfast table in tears. Although Ubah explained that she meant to talk about their ability to make choices unlike others, Erin criticized her for being unaware of her surroundings, calling her "tone deaf." Despite Ubah's explanation, Erin remained upset and complained about it to Brynn.

The Real Housewives of New York City fans took to X to criticize Erin for taking Ubah's comment personally and crying about it.

"I get Erin being struck by the comment and it hurting, but I am so tired of her crying all the time. It's excessive," a fan wrote.
"I can’t feel bad for Erin bc 1) the comment had nothing to do w HER 2) they DIDN’T KNOW bc she didn’t share. My mom & Erin’s mom were battling cancer. Yes, I hear ppl mention cancer all the time. Don’t take it as a personal dig bc cancer affects EVERYONE. Seek therapy," another fan commented.
"Erin always quick to call someone sensitive & yet she’s always crying," a netizen tweeted.

Many fans of The Real Housewives of New York City disapproved of Erin's reaction to Ubah's "cancer" comment.

"Erin girl please, I know she's not talking about Ubah being mindful of her words, when she sits up in her confessional using buzz words like 'INTENSE' to describe Ubah," a user reacted.
"Erin STFU you know good well Ubah was not saying that to be mean about your situation, she always want somebody too be "MINDFUL" " a person commented.
"Honestly Ubah is super kind and Erin is not worthy of her friendship. Life is super precious and vacation should be spent with people you love. I don’t think that was tone deaf at all actually," another fan wrote.
"Oh Erin it was all fun & games last night when Ubah was under attack Stop reaching for the victim role Ubah’s Mother passed away Do you even know from what?" one user posted.

In contrast, other fans of The Real Housewives of New York City disapproved of Ubah's statement.

"that definitely came out the wrong way… glad ubah corrected that because, whew. yikes. i wouldn’t have said something nice back, that’s for sure," a person reacted.
"Few women have had such a bad season as Ubah. One thing is doing nothing & being completely irrelevant. Another thing is getting involved & only bringing bad energy, insulting, shouting or showing your condescending ego episode after episode…," another netizen commented.

"Nobody knows what I'm going through" — The Real Housewives of New York City's Erin opens up about her emotional struggles

During a conversation with Brynn, Erin opened up about her father's battle with lung cancer. Handling the news of her father's diagnosis was particularly difficult for her because it recurred after a period of remission. At that point, The Real Housewives of New York City cast member's mother had also been diagnosed with cancer.

"Nobody knows what I'm going through. My dad doesn't like talking about this because he thinks everything's gonna be fine, but I just don't have the same confidence because you don't get that kind of chance at life twice," Erin said.

Brynn encouraged Erin, despite knowing how difficult it was to have both parents battling a serious illness. Erin refused to discuss it any further, saying it felt "too raw" to compare anything with cancer. She added that she wanted to have fun and "mentally disconnect" from everything for a while.

In contrast, Brynn advised The Real Housewives of New York City star to confront her feelings instead of shying away from them. While she called Erin a good daughter, the latter thanked her for being her "fun buddy" and helping her process her emotions.

The Real Housewives of New York City airs every Tuesday at 9 pm ET exclusively on Bravo.
