American actress Tia Mowry has opened up about her strained relationship with her twin sister Tamera in a teaser for her new reality show Tia Mowry: My Next Act. She candidly discussed her life after divorcing Cory Hardrict, revealing she often wants to call Tamera for support but admitted they aren’t that close.

For the unversed, Tia and Cory's divorce got finalized in April 2023.

Fans took to X to share their thoughts on Tia Mowry's admission. Some popular reactions are as follows:

"NO shade to Tia, if you watched her & Tamera show back in the day she was not the nicest to Tamera.. soo it’s not shocking that they aren’t close. Even being family you can’t expect to treat ppl a certain way continually & still have the privilege to be close to them," wrote one fan on X.
"I’m really glad I actually watched this video. Y’all harping on her lack of relationship with Tamera (which was obvious) instead of her saying she has the privilege of choice for the first time in her life!" opined another.

However, many fans blamed Tia Mowry for straining the relationship with her husband and twin sister, tweeting:

"I know Tia is everybody’s fave, but if you watched their last reality TV show, Tia was definitely more antagonistic towards Tamera. It definitely gave Big Sister picking on Little Sister for laughs."
"I know a lot of black twitter hates Tamera cuz of her husband but I really think Tia is the reason they’re estranged. Tia seems to be in a weird phase of her life…and I can imagine the people closest to her wouldn’t really like this new version she’s tryna put on for the world," agreed another.
"Tia was a little too combative towards Tamera in the past. Even if I had a twin brother and he acted that towards me. I would have left him alone too before I knocked him out. Even family can go too far sometimes. We may never know the exact reason. But we can go back and see how Tia acted towards Tamera," wrote another fan on X.

One fan even blamed the COVID-19 pandemic for straining the relationship between the two sisters.

"I really think the pandemic played a major role. Alot of ppl have grown very distant from their friends and family. Nobody trusts anymore," commented the fan on X.
"had a feeling they weren’t as close anymore! Especially when Tamara just said last month she didn’t know Tia had a show. She found out with the public! I hope that they mend their relationship," opined another.
"i meannnnn sh*it, y'all came into this world together/ i know shit happens and whatnot, just shocked that she's actually going through something and they can't even put their differences to the side to help her get through a tough divorce and rebuilding of her life essentially," inferred another person on X.

In the clip, Tia Mowry discussed a viral moment with her ex-husband at the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards. At their first red carpet event since the divorce, they had an awkward encounter, unsure whether to hug or shake hands. The moment quickly spread on social media, with tabloids covering it.

Tia Mowry also talked about her experience of dealing with life after her divorce from Cory Hardrict. The two were married from 2008 to 2023 and have two children - Cree, 13, and Cairo, 6.

“I feel like one of the hardest things that I’ve had to adapt to, is dropping my kids off at their dad’s house. I’ve always wanted the family dynamic of having a mom and a dad in one household. And when you’re dropping your kids off, you actually, visually see how that is no longer,” explained Tia.

The Sister, Sister actress explained that she'd always been a family person and learning to navigate life on her own was an ordeal. However, she also highlighted the silver lining of being independent.

“I feel that right now, yes, I’m vulnerable in my life, but it’s the first time where I am actually realizing that I have a choice. I have a choice to speak my mind. I have a choice to be me. I have a choice to be happy,” said Tia.

The eight-episode series is produced by Tia, Adam Griffin, and Erin Richard and will premiere on October 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET on We TV.
