"Jeeeze" — Sister Wives fans react to Kody opening up about his college relationship

Sister Wives season 19 released episode 16, A Time To Weep, A Time To Laugh, on Sunday, January 5, 2025. It showcased Kody going on a 4-wheeler date with Robyn and reflecting on the conclusion of his marriages with Meri, Janelle, and Christine. While declaring that he did not wish to hold onto those relationships, Kody reminisced about a romantic fling he had in college.

During a confessional, the Sister Wives patriarch revealed he used to be a "naughty boy" and had a "lover" in college.

"You want to know the craziest thing? I had a lover in college, and it was a little tryst. I was a naughty boy based on my faith... Yeah, I had a relationship in college where I lost my virginity," Kody recalled.

However, Kody added that the experience was "devastating" and "heartbreaking" for him since it violated the norms of his church. While Meri and Robyn knew about his college relationship, Janelle and Christine did not. While speaking to the cameras, he explained that he never got intimate enough with Janelle or Christine to confide in them about his past.

Sister Wives fans took to X to comment on Kody's recollection. While many expressed disinterest in knowing about his past relationship, others alleged that the entire conversation between Robyn and him was "scripted."

Many Sister Wives fans reacted to Kody's recollection of his college romance, deeming it unnecessary.

Meanwhile, other Sister Wives fans felt that the entire conversation between Robyn and Kody was "scripted."

"I'm done" — Sister Wives' Kody wishes to move on from his previous marriages

While reflecting on his college romance, Kody revealed that he told Robyn about it in the first month of their relationship. He confessed he could open up to Robyn because he felt "safe" with her, not the other wives. However, Kody's decision to detach completely from his other wives bothered Robyn. It made her undergo an "identity crisis" since it was not what she had imagined for herself.

Despite Robyn's request to resolve issues with his former wives, Kody refused to budge.

"Whatever I've done in these marriages, they're done. Whatever happened between me and them, I'm done. I'm done," he said.

The Sister Wives star added that he missed nothing besides the "love of the children."

When Robyn asked Kody if he loved his wives, he confessed he did not know what true and "divine" love felt like. He then told Robyn that two wives had already planned to leave him when she joined the family. He believed Robyn was so fond of the plural marriage that its demise took an emotional toll on her. Kody requested that Robyn put the past behind her and not hold it against him.

However, Robyn expressed her desire to be like the other plural families, where they would resolve issues and stay together. When she stressed the importance of upholding peace and friendship, Kody retaliated, saying he struggled to believe that.
