Season 19 of Sister Wives released its latest episode on TLC on Sunday, September 29, 2024. The segment featured Mykelti giving birth to her twins, Archer Padron and Ace Padron. Besides her husband, Tony, she wanted her mothers, Christine and Robyn to be present during and after the delivery.
Mykelti admitted it was a special moment to have them by her side. After returning home, she asked Robyn to stay for the first two to three nights to have her "bonding" with the twins. Only after Robyn left would Christine be able to have her alone time with the children.
Reviewing Mykelti's decision, Christine mentioned that her daughter shared a solid bond with Robyn. She took it upon herself to reunite the family in whatever way possible. Meanwhile, Robyn said she would do most of the caretaking and later hand the "baton" to Christine.
Sister Wives fans were surprised by Mykelti's decision to choose Robyn's presence over her own mother's. They took to X to express their disapproval.
"I don't care what anyone says, Mykelti having Robyn there at all is just gross. The fact that she invites Robyn, and Robyn even comes, is beyond. She ruined both of those births by being there. Robyn has zero respect for Christine," a fan wrote.
"Why is robyn the first to spend time with the babies when they aren’t her grandkids and the actual grandmothers go second and third?! That’s awful on mykelti’s part," another fan commented.
Many Sister Wives fans disapproved of Mykelti's decision to prioritize Robyn over her birth mother, Christine.
"I feel that it’s too bad that Mykelti doesn’t have her primary loyalty to her birth mom, Christine. At some level, that has to be hurtful to Christine. She is a really good mom to rise above it and put her children first," a netizen tweeted.
"Why would Mykelti have Robyn there for the twins birth She perpetually hates on her Mom Christine Robyn could have came the next week to see the twins," a user reacted.
"Mykelti is a whole f**king weirdo for having Robyn spend the first few nights with the twins before Christine did! Sorry not sorry," a person commented.
"Robyn gets to spend time with the babies on their first nights home but not Christine?! Wow ok Mykelti," another fan wrote.
At the same time, some Sister Wives fans suspected Robyn's relationship with Mykelti.
"Robyn figured out that Mykelti was the black sheep and that's why she went after Mykelti. That's where she was able to start alienating people in the family and pulling them into her plan of another monogamous marriage," a user tweeted.
"Mykelti you had a good relationship with Robyn because she saw you as the easy one to manipulate out of all the siblings. You were used as the babysitter so your dad and her could go on dates. She saw that you felt unseen by the others and took advantage of that," one netizen commented.
Sister Wives star Mykelti says it was an "incredible experience" to have both her mothers at the hospital
Mykelti stated that giving birth to her twins was a nerve-wracking experience. However, after she saw her husband, Tony, in the room, she instantly started calming down. After Archer and Ace were born, Mykelti admitted it felt "awesome" and she was "happy." She was also thrilled to have Robyn and Christine there.
"It was just this incredible experience," Mykelti said.
However, Sister Wives star Kody was worried about Robyn and Christine being together. He was unsure about the kind of interactions they would have since Christine's separation from Kody was still fresh. While talking to the cameras, an emotional Robyn admitted that while she and Christine held the twins, she could their shared history.
Back home, Mykelti revealed her plan to let Robyn stay with the twins first to let her bond with them.
"She's just kind of going to be here 24/7. This was really nice 'cause Robyn was able to get bonding with the grandkids," Mykelti said.
The Sister Wives cast member added that after Robyn left, Christine "would be able to get her bonding as well." Lastly, Tony's mother, Maria, would get her time with the children. Christine confessed that since all of Robyn's family members loved Mykelti, she took it as her responsibility to bring the family together.
Meanwhile, Sister Wives star Robyn claimed that a divorce could not limit the extent of one's relationship. It was why she thought she continued to play a role in Mykelti's life despite Christine and Kody's divorce. However, Christine felt uncomfortable around Robyn and said the situation was "awkward."
