Love Never Lies: South Africa, hosted by Minnie Dlamini, is a Netflix reality series that tests the honesty and trust in relationships. 6 couples joined the show to uncover hidden truths and strengthen their bond, using the Eye Detect, a lie detector test that reveals lies and their partner's reaction to them.

Each lie detected led to a deduction from the prize money, raising the stakes for every couple. Throughout the show, participants faced questions about loyalty, trust, and their future together, often sparking confrontations.

The process led them to confess their feelings and re-evaluate their relationships. The 6 couples included Munaka and Gontse, Clayton and Wilfred, Kuda and Lynn, Naledi and Nikiwe, Siya and Pretty, and Nancy and Bohlale.

A notable instance in the show involved Gontse’s desire for an open relationship, which Munaka struggled to accept, leading to heated confrontations and social media debates. Another moment featured Kuda and Lynn, whose relationship got complicated after Kuda’s infidelity came to light. Lynn’s subsequent crush on her new partner, and Kuda's referring to his match as his “lover” further fueled tensions.

The finale episodes, released on December 6, 2024, brought the season to a dramatic conclusion. Each couple faced their final tests and decisions, determining whether their love could withstand the pressure or if they would part ways.

Finale episode highlights of Love Never Lies: South Africa

Nikiwe and Naledi faced a challenging finale as their journey on the show ended. Reflecting on their polyamorous relationship, Nikiwe admitted, "I cannot safely commit to something that has no clear vision." During a discussion with the host, Naledi expressed regret, saying:

"It broke my heart to make you cry. And to break your trust. And I've missed you."

Both contestants struggled with truth-telling during the final questions, with Nikiwe stating, "Although I am okay to have that conversation, I can't accept the future of it." Ultimately, Nikiwe and Naledi told the truth only twice, disqualifying them from winning the final prize.

Lynn and Kuda, along with Pretty and Siya, each told the truth four times. Nancy and Bohlale managed to tell the truth five times. The top two couples were Munaka and Gontse, as well as Clayton and Wilfred.

Ultimately, Munaka and Gontse emerged as the winners of the first season of Love Never Lies: South Africa, lying only once throughout their journey. They took home the prize money of 720,000 rand.
