Big Brother season 26 aired a new episode this week on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The segment saw Jerry O'Connell appear as host after Julie Chen Moonves, the long-running host of the CBS show contracted Covid.
The host took to social media to let the fans know of her temporary absence from the show and thanked Jerry for filling in for her. The segment saw Quinn Martin get evicted from the Big Brother season 26 house.

In Big Brother season 26 episode 27, a live eviction episode, Jerry O'Connell took over for Julie Chen Moonves after the latter tested positive for COVID-19. She informed her fans of the show via an Instagram post.
The Big Brother season 26 host wrote that she woke up on Friday morning with a "sore throat" and went to see an ENT specialist. He later called her to inform her that she had Covid. Julie said that it was the second time she had contracted the virus and it was "very mild."
Updating fans on her current condition, Julie wrote that while she didn't have a fever and a sore throat, she still tested positive. She added that although she felt good and that her cough was gone, she had to sit the episode out.
Julie thanked Jerry for filling in for her and joked that she hoped he fit into her dress. She wished that he had a good time and that he told the houseguests she missed them.
"See? Chenbot is human after all! Love one another and enjoy tonight's show," she wrote.
Big Brother season 26 fans chimed in on the replacement online and were impressed by Jerry's hosting abilities.
