Rhythm + Flow season 2 episodes 5 to 8 were released on November 27, following the initial four episodes that premiered on Netflix on November 20. Episode 5 featured Eminem as the guest judge for the cipher battles.
The contestants, assembled in the famous St. Andrews Hall of Detroit for a one-on-one battle, were shocked yet pleasantly surprised to see him. The rapper stated that he would judge them based on their lyrics, rhyming abilities, stage presence, and crowd control.
Once the battles started, he, along with other judges - Latto, Ludacris, and Royce 5'9' - evaluated contestants based on their performances. Eminem encouraged each rapper and pointed out their strengths first. He also talked about their weaknesses, but not at length, before announcing the winner.
Fans of Rhythm + Flow took to X to praise this quality of the rapper. One fan on X commented:
"Eminem is so kind and graceful with everything he says to the contestants, I didn't see that coming."
Several other fans praised the rapper for encouraging the contestants.
"#Eminem talks to #RhythmAndFlow battle show contestants, analyzing their performance. It's amazing how much Marshall appreciates each of them and makes them believe in their talent!" said another.
"Dono rapped better. Diamond played to the crowd. Playing to the crowd IS a part of battle rapping. I, personally, think Dono should’ve gotten it, but I understand. It was close. I looovveee that Eminem hugged and affirmed Dono," a third one added.
"Eminem is being too nice. I thought he would be totally unimpressed," another wrote.
Some fans of Rhythm + Flow pointed out the fact that he was a father and a grandfather, and it showed in the warmth he gave the contestants.
"“Don’t cry, come here” Eminem went straight into father mode," an X user wrote.
"Being a huge @Eminem fan and then seeing him be so f*cking sweet to the contestants on #RhythmAndFlow makes me so happy," another X user wrote.

"Eminem was being POLITE with some of those battle rap critiques!!!" another wrote.
