"Living in another reality" — Love After Lockup fans criticize Kim for expecting Joey to take financial responsibility

Love After Lockup season 5 released its latest episode, Life After Lockup: Welcome Home? on Friday, October 4, 2024. The segment saw cast members explore life outside prison after reuniting with their convicted partners who have been released recently.

In one scene, Kim spoke about her partner Joey, and her expectations of him. She stated that she and Joey were buying a house for their children, and to be able to afford that she expected Joey to contribute to the significantly large down payment. Kim explained she planned on helping her fiancé find a job.

Previously, Joey was caught spending Kim's money on unnecessary items without her permission. That was why Kim became suspicious of his intentions and expenses; worried he might relapse and start using drugs. Despite everything, she looked forward to starting a new chapter with him, hoping to see him take on a more responsible role.

Love After Lockup fans were surprised by Kim's expectations. They criticized her for expecting financial contributions from Joey, well aware of his track record. They took to X to express their opinion.

Love After Lockup star Kim reveals she has been tracking Joey

In the latest segment, Kim revealed it had been two months since Joey was released from prison. She hoped to see a new side of him, looking forward to starting a new chapter with him and her children. However, with Joey's history of dishonesty and addiction, Kim could not keep her concerns at bay.

The Love After Lockup star was determined not to repeat the mistake of being with a liar. During a conversation with her mother, Kim confessed she was excited about making a down payment on her house.

"Joey and I are buying a house for my babies. I mean, our lease is up but a house payment is gonna be about $1500 a month. And like you have to put down 3-and-a-half percent," Kim said.

The Love After Lockup cast member expected Joey's help in purchasing their new house. While speaking to the cameras, Kim confessed that her "game plan" to afford their own place was to "work like hell," sell baby clothes and toys, and help Joey find a job.

She revealed she was tracking her partner to ensure he was not doing anything illegal or unnecessary. Kim added:

"I track Joey all the time because Joey is an addict. I need to know he is doing the right thing."

The episode also showed Joey bonding with Kim's sons, Kasen and Kyler. Joey told the cameras that Kim deserved somebody to help her since she singlehandedly raised her two sons.
