Episode 3 of Shark Tank season 16 aired on November 1, featuring the sharks ready to invest in new products while hopeful entrepreneurs showcased their skills. One of the brands presented was Doatnut, founded by Kimberly J. Aguirre, which offers healthy donuts made from oats. Kimberly claimed these donuts are gluten-free and a healthier dessert option.
The deal made sense to Lori Greiner and Mark Cuban and they took it up as a joint venture. Fans of Shark Tank flocked to X to react to the brand and the deal because they liked the idea and thought the company would do good.
"Doatnut looks delicious! This is intriguing! I hope they have great sales!" said one fan.
"I can’t wait to try Doatnuts! @mcuban and @LoriGreiner will help make this brand expand exponentially!" said another fan.
"Congratulations, both Lori and Mark that's so great- I really want to try these #Doatnuts now," another fan added.
"A donut that’s dairy-free, gluten-free, and only 90 calories? Kimmy’s onto something here. However, it’s a great product without a business plan. Passion needs a plan, especially with sales at just $50K this year," wrote one.
Some fans of Shark Tank commented on how delicious the product looked while others praised its business model.
"The product tastes great, good margins, beautiful storefront," wrote an X user.
"Mmm, Doatnuts," another X user wrote.
"Doatnut, a healthy donut that’s 90 calories, gluten-free, and dairy free?? Need them now!!" another commented.
More details on Doatnut from Shark Tank season 16 episode 3
When Kimberly presented Doatnut on Shark Tank Season 16, episode 3, she decorated her storefront in shades of pink, matching her packaging, and displayed a picture of her donuts. The storefront read: "Freshly Milled Oat Groats."
Kimberly started the business in 2021, during the pandemic, alongside her husband because she wanted to sell a product that was a healthy alternative to traditional desserts. Started out of Oceanside, California, the name of Kimberly's shop was 'Kimy Gets Skinny Doatnut Shop.'
Doatnut source their oats from organic, gluten-free fields in Wyoming and mills them into flour in Oceanside in small batches to preserve their natural oils and create a nutty flavor. They use a natural sweetener called monk fruit, which is native to China.
Doatnut products contain no preservatives but can be stored at room temperature for three days, in the fridge for a week, and frozen for three months. They also ship nationwide for healthy donut lovers outside Southern California.
Valued at $1 million, the company initially asked for $100K for 10% equity. With 50K in sales this year, Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner offered Kimberly a joint deal, which she accepted. Now it is for the Shark Tank fans to see how far Doatnut goes with the help from the sharks.
