Below Deck Mediterranean, season 9 finale aired this week on Monday, September 23, 2024. The segment picked up with the continuation of Aesha Scott confronting Ellie Dubaich.
Although the cast member had previously said she hadn't realized she was overstepping, in the season finale, she said she was trying to show Aesha her leadership skills. While Aesha felt that the season 9 star was trying to gaslight her, Ellie stated she felt that everything she did was "wrong."
The conversation prompted discussions on social media and left the fans divided. While some praised Aesha for talking to Ellie, others supported the latter and felt that the chief stew was biased. One person wrote on X:
"Aesha, it’s so juvenile of Ellie, but not at all juvenile of Nathan right? And not juvenile of you too I guess, when you’ve been talking to the whole crew about Ellie?? You are biased and not a good chief stew at all!! Losing all respect for you"
"Yes Aesha, Ellie grumbles and whines, but you've never made her feel she belongs. You talk like she's in competition with you, and she's not that malicious person you make her out to be," a fan commented.
"In Ellie’s defense, Aesha was talking sh*t about her to Carrie last week, and Bri wasn’t a friend to her w the Joe thing. So I don’t blame her for feeling whatever," a tweet read.
Some Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 fans criticized Ellie online:
"Of course Ellie. Of course Aesha calling you out for your bad behavior and low performance is Carrie’s fault," a person wrote.
"Ruh-Roh! The lemon drop shot heard round the world! Ellie was major defensive. But, Aesha is DONE with Ellie - called her right out on the spot about not needing to be defensive," a fan commented.
"Ellie’s problem is she wants aesha’s job and she keeps overstepping boundaries. you are not chief stew babe. stay in a second-in-command place," a tweet read.
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 fans further said:
"Wait…. So Ellie admits she was trying to show Aesha “leadership” skills by giving orders, but also said her actions were never intentional? Which is it?!?" a person wrote.
"ellie is definitely gaslighting aesha. it’s very clear that she didn’t give a f*ck about anything aesha told her. she’s incapable of taking criticism and always feels like she is being personally attacked," a fan commented.
"Ellie's gaslighting me" — Below Deck Mediterranean star Aesha Scott chimes in on Ellie's behavior in season 9 finale
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 finale started with the continuation of Aesha confronting Ellie about overstepping her roles and going over the chief stew's roles. The confrontation began in episode 16 and continued in the season 9 finale.
Aesha told the Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 cast member that there had been numerous incidents when she had disregarded what Aesha had said and instructed the other stews to do something else. Recalling Ellie's conversation with the chef, she said she couldn't understand why she would be talking to him "over" her.
Ellie assured Aesha that it was unintentional but the Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 star did not believe her. She chimed in on Ellie's behavior in a confessional.
"I feel like Ellie's gaslighting me in a way. Like, she's standing there acting like she's so unaware," Aesha said.
She added that Ellie was "so calculated" and didn't think that she ever "truly" knew what Ellie was thinking. The latter also commented on the situation in a confessional. She said everything she did was "wrong" and that she was only trying to prove to Aesha that she could do her job.
Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 fans commented on the conversation online and were divided by Aesha confronting Ellie.
