“Manipulative”- 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days fans criticize Niles for not being honest with Matilda about their wedding

Episode 8 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 7 was released on October 20. The episode saw Brian and Ingrid getting into a fight, Sunny finding out Veah brought her ex with her to South Africa, while Tigerlily flew back to the US, leaving Adnan behind, until she saw him the next time.

The episode, titled For Whom the Bell Tolls, documented Niles proposing to Matilda. Only, he didn't intend to marry her on this particular trip to Ghana and wanted to wait it out. He didn't divulge this information to Matilda, who thought she was getting married, and relayed the same to her friends and family there.

When Niles finally told her he wouldn't marry her on this trip, Matilda was angry. She demanded to know what she should be telling her friends and family and asked why he didn't tell her about this earlier. Niles apologized for not saying it earlier. Fans of 90 Day Fiancé have come to X to criticize Niles for the same.

"Did Niles just say he needs more time to get to know Matilda better??? If so, he's lying. He should have told her the truth - he doesn't have enough money for the wedding. Niles is being deceptive. He's manipulative," said one.

"Niles should have told the truth. Her family is spending time and money for a wedding. He should have never gotten on that plane without the truth first. Engagement is when you’re 100% sure," a third one added.

"I feel bad for Matilda because Niles misled her and now humiliated her. I’m impressed that she remained in control and didn’t try to kill him," added one.

Some fans of 90 Day Fiancé criticized Niles for coming to Ghana and proposing to Matilda despite knowing he didn't have the money to wed her.

"My biggest problem with Niles is that he knew BEFORE he went to Ghana that he couldn't afford to marry Matilda like he said he would. She, her family and friends are all looking forward to a wedding, and Niles could have just been honest," one commented.

"Niles should have told her about the wedding BEFORE giving her the ring... This is gonna be 10000 times worse...," an X user wrote.

"I can sympathize with Matilda because Niles told her he would marry her when he came to Ghana. She and her whole family are looking forward to a wedding. Niles isn't just disappointing Matilda, but her family and friends as well," another one wrote.

What happened between Niles and Matilda in episode 8 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 7?

Before proposing to Matilda in episode 8, Niles took to a confessional on 90 Day Fiancé to say that he was going to give her the 20 maxims he lived by because she was going to need them when she found out he wasn't going to wed her.

He then began reading the maxims out to her, which consisted of quotes in the form of life lessons. He then went down on one knee and proposed to Matilda, she immediately said yes and the two kissed. Niles couldn't say anything to Matilda then because he was overwhelmed with emotion.

In another scene on 90 Day Fiancé, when the duo sat at a bar, Niles broke the news and told her he couldn't marry her on this trip. He said he needed more time to get to know her.

Matilda was disappointed because she had told all her friends and family about the wedding. Niles said the ring he gave her was his promise to wed her one day.
