“Messed up”- 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans criticize Joanne for abandoning her children

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way released episode 15 of season 6 on October 7, 2024. The episode saw the couples taking their relationships to the next stage as they tried to find solutions to existential problems. One such couple was Sean and Joanne, who got married in a secret ceremony.

The previous episodes showed Joanne telling her sons, Joey and Jess, that she had been married to Sean for the past two years. She also told them that she planned on moving to Ireland to be with her Irish partner. The 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way cast member then told her sons that she expected them to stay in New York, where they were raised.

The episode then saw Joanne and her elder son, Joey, questioning his mother about her move. The teenager wondered what he and his younger brother would do without their mother.

He asked her what if something were to happen to either of them. Joanne said she wasn't going to stop being their mother and that she would hop on the next flight whenever necessary.

Fans of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way criticized Joanne and said she was abandoning her children.

"Joanne messed up by putting Sean before her kids!!" one fan said.

Some 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans called out the fact that her younger son was too young to be abandoned.

"Joanne is not in the running for mother of the year. She is abandoning her children one of which is 6 or 8 years old. This woman is despicable. & she is making her son feel bad for not letting her abandon them," an X user said.

"Wouldn’t Joanne want to wait til her son at least graduated HS to move?" another X user said.

"Sean seems more concerned about Joanne’s kids than she is," said another X user.

"How much do airline tickets to Ireland cost? Joanne got money to just hop a flight any time her sons need her," a fan wrote.

Episode 15 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, released on Monday, saw Joey, Joanne's eldest son, asking her if she had a date she was planning to move on. She told him that she didn't have a set date and still had to make a calendar of the time she would divide between Ireland and New York.

She said she didn't have one yet and that she still had to make a calendar of the days she was going to divide between Ireland and New York.

Joey stated that their dad lived 45 minutes away and their mom in Ireland. He asked what would happen if his younger brother Jesse was hurt or unwell at school, and reminded her that he was the only one responsible for the younger boy.

"You're not gonna be responsible for Jesse. You're not taking my role, you're not Jesse's parent. I am still your parent and his parent. I understand that I'll be further away but I would of course get on the next plane if I needed to come to New York," Joanne told her son.

She added that their grandparents were going to help them and that if Jesse and Joey wanted to live in Ireland, they were welcome. Joey said it was a lose-lose situation.

In a 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way confessional, Joanne said she didn't think the "negatives" through when she got into a relationship with Sean and married him. She stated that she married because she always thought things would be "okay".
