Selling Sunset released season 8 on Netflix on Friday, September 6, 2024. The agents at The Oppenheim Group competed against one another to secure the highest-paying deals in the real estate market. Amidst the cut-throat competition, they attempted to maintain stability in their personal and professional lives.
However, their efforts did not always fetch the results they wanted. In episode 3, titled 'Cat's Out of the Birkin Bag,' Bre's friend, Amanda, told Bre that Chelsea's husband, Jeff, was seen at a hotel getting intimate with another woman. Bre and Amanda chuckled at the news and debated how to break it to the others, especially Chelsea.
Bre wanted to use the information to let Chelsea know that she should have concentrated on her relationship before commenting on others, referring to the latter's remarks about Bre and comedian Nick Cannon's relationship. Selling Sunset fans flocked to X to react to Bre and Amanda's conversation. They criticized the duo for laughing at the news and believed Bre appeared vengeful.
"Bree is messy messy messy, why is she crying with Chelsea now when she was laughing with Amanda about the cheating scandal a few days before," a fan wrote.
"Listen I love me some mess but the way Bre’s friend Amanda is laughing while sharing the information about Chelsea’s husband.. yeah," another fan commented.
"So the only time Bre brings Amanda to this show is to chat about Chelsea, but we’re supposed to believe she’s innocent," a netizen tweeted.
Many Selling Sunset fans felt that Bre and Amanda's reactions were inappropriate and unnecessary.
"The blonde lady cackling and taking so much joy in Chelsea’s husband cheating on her is sick! What a deranged individual," a person wrote.
"The joy Bre & her friend get from gossiping about Chelsea’s cheating husband tells me everything I need to know about the type of women they are…. Disgusting," one user reacted.
"Bri absolutely knew what she was doing. She chuckled & laughed when given that information! That disgusting Amanda B*tch knew too! Talking Team Bri! Like an aha moment. That doesn’t change Chelsea’s values. She can still have standards of a solid family unlike Bri," another person commented.
At the same time, some Selling Sunset fans claimed Bre orchestrated the entire conversation about Chelsea's husband's affair to malign Chelsea on the show.
"Bre is so full of crap! She orchestrated this whole mess to try to embarrass Chelsea on the show. Let’s call it what it is!" a fan tweeted.
"Bre a whole lie she knew that girl was gonna say the sh*t about Chelsea’s cheating husband," one user reacted.
"You can’t tell me that Bre didn’t bring Amanda Lynn on this show to drop this bomb about Chelsea’s husband. You’d have to be stupid to think this info was released organically," another netizen commented.
"The tea is hot" — Selling Sunset guest star Amanda tells Bre she has "good information" for her
Amanda called Bre in episode 3 to let her know she had some "good information" that Bre could use to her advantage. A self-proclaimed "Team Bre" member, Amanda sounded over-excited to spill the gossip to her friend. However, she wanted to deliver the news in person.
"It's a little much to say. I'm a little being cautious with information because the tea is hot," Amanda said.
As the episode unfolded, viewers realized Amanda was talking about Chelsea's husband, Jeff's affair. Later, when the two friends met, Amanda asked Bre about her relationship dynamics with the other cast members. She confessed she got along with everybody "except for Chelsea."
Amanda revealed she had news that could be "damaging about Chelsea's husband." She showed her text messages where Amanda's friend claimed he saw Jeff getting physical with another woman at the W hotel.
While Amanda laughed, Bre hoped there were pictures. The Selling Sunset cast member contemplated how to use the information. She stated old Bre would drag Chelsea through the "pits of hell."
Bre also noted that Chelsea should not have commented on her relationship with Nick Cannon, calling it off-putting since it did not adhere to the values she practiced.
Selling Sunset season 8 is available to stream only on Netflix.
