"My GOATS" — Outlast fans react to Tre leaving the show after Tonia's medical emergency

Outlast season 2 aired episodes 1-6 on Netflix on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. The survivalist reality show started with 16 contestants and by the end of the first batch of episodes, only eight players remained.

Camp Alpha's Tonia faced a medical emergency and had to be rushed to the hospital to be treated for hypothermia, hypoglycemia, and dehydration. Instead of picking another team, Tre self-eliminated from the show.

Fans of the show took to social media to react to the segment and were impressed by Tre's decision to leave the show. They complimented the pair's friendship and termed it the definition of loyalty. One person wrote on X:

Outlast season 2 fans said they were "rooting" for Alpha:

"I feel sooo sooo bad for Tonia and Tre I'm rooting for alpha from the beginning but nature said noo," a person wrote.

"The fact that all she kept saying was how sorry she was to leave Tre alone & potentially cost him his spot in the game speaks to their bond & who Tonia is as a person. I hope Tre can find a new team," a fan commented.

Why did Tre and Tonia leave Outlast season 2?

In Outlast season 2 episode 4, Tre made snail and starfish soup and although Tonia was hesitant about trying it, she called eating protein a "morale" boost. However, she started to throw up and got sick. She told the cameras that the "vomiting did something" to her as she started shivering, which felt like "convulsions."

Outlast season 2 cast member Tre tried to keep her warm and got under the same blanket as Tonia. He put his blanket on top of Tonia to preserve heat. Around 3:30 am, the female cast member woke Tre up and asked him to get the medic.

However, when the medical personnel reached the tent, they asked her if she was requesting a medical evaluation. Tonia said she only wanted to know if she was okay. The Outlast season 2 crew member told her she didn't look good and she began crying. Tre told her she should go home if her health was at risk.

Tonia lost consciousness but was responsive to pain stimuli. She awoke while the crew was taking her to the boat, she said that she needed to stay with Tre. She apologized to Tre before she was taken to the hospital but the male participant assured her she had nothing to apologize for.

Since Tonia was eliminated, Tre had 24 hours to either find another camp or self-eliminate. He chose to leave the show instead of trying to find another team. Fans of the show took to social media to react to this segment and were appreciative of Tre and Tonia's bond. They further praised Tre for showing loyalty.
