"My heart broke"— The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City fans react to Mary and Robert Jr. talking about drug abuse

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 aired episode 11, titled, Troop Salt Lake City on November 27, 2024. The segment saw Mary Cosby have a sit down with her son, Robert Jr.

The cast member previously expressed concern over her son's changed behavior and asked him about the same in episode 11. She asked him how he was and he told her he had taken a Xanax because he couldn't sleep properly. He further said that he took an Adderall to balance it out. She asked if he was unhappy and he said life felt like an unseasoned "chicken."

The two addressed the issue in-depth and Mary offered him help and asked if he accepted it was a problem. Fans of the reality show reacted to the conversation online and praised Mary for the way she handled herself in the moment and didn't judge her son. One person wrote on X:

In The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 episode 11, Mary and her son, Robert Jr. addressed his issues with drugs. He told Mary that he started taking Xanax when he was 16 years old and soon started mixing it with other chemical substances.

He told The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member he started mixing Xanax with Acid, Molly, Cocaine, and more.

"Cause I, I really like Xanax, so I mix it with everything," he added.

He further revealed he started taking 10 30 mg Oxycodone (Oxy) and wouldn't feel it. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reality star's son added that it was a "turning point" for him. Mary told him she wasn't judging him and wanted to help him. She further told him that she wouldn't support it and asked if he accepted he had a problem.

In a confessional, Mary expressed feeling disappointed in herself and said that she felt she let her son down. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 5 cast member said she knew her son smoked marijuana but trusted him to stop at that. She admitted to being wrong and asked her son if he knew how much she loved him.

The Bravo star told him he wouldn't last long if he continued on the same path and Robert revealed he didn't want to continue living at one point. He added that he felt like a "stain" and didn't feel like "this world" was for him.

"You're the only reason I didn't kill myself," Robert said.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star thanked her son for being strong and told him how much she loved him. Fans of the Bravo show commented on the conversation online and praised the two for being "brave."
