"NEVER respects her boundaries"— Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans criticize Martell for sitting at Melody's table

Season 9 of Love & Marriage: Huntsville released episode 13, titled Vow or Never, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. It showcased Melody leaving Nell and Chris' vow renewal party after her ex-partner, Martell, joined the table at which she was seated during dinner. While speaking to the cameras, Melody explained she left because she did not want to be a part of "any shenanigans."

"You know, I came here to support Nell and Chris and you know, just be a good friend for them in this moment. I didn't come here to be a part of any shenanigans nor be in close proximity to anybody I, quite frankly, don't f**k with. So, I think it's my queue to leave," Melody said.

However, Melody's exit did not sit right with Martell, who wondered why she could not leave their past behind them and meet him in the middle. He claimed they could make amends with one another only when both tried.

Martell and Melody divorced in 2021, ending their 14-year marriage after Melody accused Martell of infidelity and more. Throughout the series, the former partners were shown sharing an unstable equation, as each avoided recalling the past and any confrontation.

Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans took to X to criticize Martell for sitting at Melody's table. While many disapproved of his actions, others supported Melody for leaving.

"It was already a stretch for Martell and Mel to film together, but he pushes the limits further by sitting at her table? He NEVER respects her boundaries and it’s gross," a fan wrote.

"Martell u know exactly why Mel can’t be around u," another fan commented.

"where YOU need to go is tf away, martell! stop trying to force yourself into her space," a netizen tweeted.

Many Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans criticized Martell for sitting at Melody's table, while others hoped he took accountability for his actions instead of wishing Melody to mend fences.

"Martell messed that up and there is no coming back from that. He needs to take accountability and owed that," a user reacted.

"Martell if you don’t go back to your table. What made you have the right to grab your chair?" a person commented.

"Why is Martell coming to Mel’s table? Such a narcissist," another fan wrote.

"Martell pulling up a chair at the table that he’s not assigned to, to be close to Melody is borderline harassment. Lawd she doesn’t want you to be in her space!" one user posted.

Other Love & Marriage: Huntsville fans defended Melody's decision to leave.

"I’m actually not mad at her leaving . They don’t take things Martell does to her serious," a person reacted.

"Melody has every right to remove herself from Martell while they are out in public. She is still healing and he will always be a trigger for her. So she is doing her best to make good of the situation she has to be in taping for the show," another commented.

Love & Marriage: Huntsville: Martell reflects on his relationship dynamics with Melody

As Martell watched Melody leave the party, he expressed it was "sad" that she would avoid confrontation instead of trying to resolve and work through their issues.

Earlier in the Love & Marriage: Huntsville episode, Martell stated that he knew it would be "difficult" to get through the event since his ex-wife would also be present, however, he planned to be "cordial" and celebrate the Fletchers.

Martell was equally concerned about his encounter with Marsau because of their ongoing arguments and differences. Melody was surprised to see Marsau and his wife, LaTisha, sit next to Martell at the vow renewal ceremony, accusing them of "faking" their "big blowup."

During a conversation with Maurice, Martell confessed he was "messed up" since he did not know what he wanted his private life to resemble. When asked why, the Love & Marriage: Huntsville cast member shared that he compared his present relationships with his past ones, admitting he needed time to move on from Melody.

"Yeah, I'm real conflicted," he added.

While speaking to the cameras, Martell expressed that his disconnect with Melody bothered him. He added that it was unsettling to watch someone else renew their vows while he had no communication with his ex-wife. He hoped he could have a marriage that could last that long.
