America's Got Talent season 19 aired its latest episode on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. With the finale inching closer, the contestants put their best foot forward, hoping to secure a place in the finals. In episode 11, Quarterfinals 2, 11 acts performed at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
While most acts were able to excite the judges, one managed to earn judge Howie Mandel's Golden Buzzer. Japanese dance crew, AIRFOOTWORKS' performance stunned everyone. Moved by their talent, Howie pressed the Golden Buzzer for them, sending them to the finals.
Even though they secured the special opportunity, another act posed tough competition for them. Sky Elements' 1,000 drones act mesmerized the judges and the audience. They depicted the judges as characters in a circus with larger-than-life features.
America's Got Talent fans took to X to compliment their grand performance, where some thought they deserved the Live Show Golden Buzzer, whereas, some were unimpressed by their performance, claiming that the light show did not measure up to the other talents on the show.
"What Sky Elements does is next level they definitely stepped it up I genuinely think they have a big shot at winning #AGT," a fan wrote.
"Sky elements are fantastic but I don’t think it’s something I would pay to see. It’s something cool to watch like stepping outside to watch fireworks #AGT," another fan wrote.
Some America's Got Talent fans complimented the precision and accuracy with which Sky Elements executed their performance.
"You can see why it took 300 hours and 62 cups of coffee to create that show by Sky Elements. I'm surprised @howiemandel didn't give them a golden buzzer. #AGT," one person tweeted.
"How did Sky Elements not get a Golden Buzzer?! That was incredible. #AGT," a netizen wrote.
"Amazing drone show. That takes hours and hours of work good job #AGT!" another netizen tweeted.
At the same time, some fans questioned if Sky Elements' act was performed live, and claimed it was not extraordinary.
"#AGT Were they actually live? It didn't feel like it. Not sure about the Sky Elements. It's very cool but if it wasn't live I feel it's cheating a bit," a person reacted.
"Light Shows are a thing of past-I would not pay to go to a lite show u would have to pay me!!! #Agt," another netizen commented.
"Drone thing was cool before, good for events, as a Vegas act I worry about bad weather, performance area, and other exterior performance issues for them. #AGT," one fan tweeted.
America's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell thought Sky Elements' performance was "incredible"
Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer act was determined to upgrade their performance for the quarterfinals. The America's Got Talent contestant returned with another intricate drone act accompanied by three songs — The Show Must Go On by Queen, September by Earth, Wind & Fire, and Firework by Katy Perry.
They put on a display using 1,000 drones, showcasing multiple characters in the sky. They depicted host Terry Crews as a ringmaster of a circus, judge Sofia Vergara as a trapeze artist, Howie Mandel as a magician, Heidi Klum as a flame thrower, and Simon Cowell hitting the golden buzzer.
The America's Got Talent audience applauded and cheered as they saw the spectacle in the sky. The judges laughed when they saw themselves depicted with hilarious characteristics. After their act, Simon said:
"That was honestly incredible. I thought the first time we saw you, how do you top that, and you did."
He complimented them for pulling off such a difficult performance. Sofia was enchanted by their clean execution. Howie was wowed by how accurate the depictions of the judges were.
Sky Elements hoped America voted for them so they could continue their journey on America's Got Talent.
