Episode 6 of the first season of The Golden Bachelorette was released on October 23. Joan was seen going on hometown dates with four of her suitors— Chock, Guy, Pascal, and Jordan. After a non-commital attitude from Jordan, she let him go.
On her hometown date with Guy, they took a boat ride on Lake Tahoe in Guy's hometown. She met his sons who were cordial with her but feared their father might face heartbreak.
The duo also kissed on their boat ride, but fans of The Golden Bachelorette thought there weren't sparks flying. Even Joan described their relationship as a "slow burn". She told him she was still not over her former husband, John, and that she would take time to be in love with anyone new. Fans of the show came to X to react to their chemistry, most of them thought they didn't have any.

"I'm cringing watching Joan kiss Guy. Not very romantic!" said one fan.
"Families all fabulous. Guy appears the most fun/not desperate but she’s into Chock," said another fan.
"Guy and his family are so genuine. It’s too bad that he and Joan don’t have romantic chemistry. Hopefully, his newfound confidence will help him find love again," a third fan added.

Some fans of The Golden Bachelorette thought her chemistry with Guy was lesser than the one she shared with some other suitors.
"I just don't get the Pascal attraction but she is WAY more excited by him than Guy.....there is really no big chemistry showing up with her and Guy....but I hear Pascal dumps her.....don't think she will like that much seeing this," an X user wrote.

Guy's hometown date with Joan on The Golden Bachelorette episode 6
On The Golden Bachelorette, Guy was the first out of the four suitors to take Joan on the hometown date. Their date started with a boat ride on the picturesque Lake Tahoe. While sailing, Joan said she wished to find someone she could spend her "golden years" with. And added:
"It's like our happy place, so relaxing".
She also said that everything she did after her former husband, John's passing brought up a new memory. She said that she had been with John for so long that the idea of being with a new person was "weird".
When Guy asked if he should guard his heart and if he was going to be let down, Joan said she was feeling guilty about having feelings for men other than John, but that she wanted to "let go of John a little bit".
Guy's family members seemed to like Joan because they gave her the details of his divorce and asked her to get married to him and be a part of their family. Like Guy, even his son was worried about his father facing heartbreak.
