Love is Blind: Germany premiered on Friday, January 3, 2025, and released its first four episodes on Netflix. The reality show featured a new group of singles hoping to fall in love, sight unseen.
One such cast member was Tolga, who found himself amid a love triangle with Hannah and Shila. In the first four episodes which were released on Friday, the cast member's journey saw him choose between his suitresses, get engaged to Shila, and go on a honeymoon with Shila to Greece.
On January 4, 2025, the cast member took to social media to detail the aftermath of the show and call out the negative comments he had been subjected to, based on the final edit.
In an Instagram post, Tolga wrote that the reaction he had received was a "poignant reminder" to stand up for "compassion, understanding, and respect."
"The negative comments and death threats I've received are not only sick, but dangerous." He wrote.
He further asked Love is Blind: Germany fans to stop and think before they "utter words" or "actions" that did no good to anyone.
Tolga addresses negativity in light of Love is Blind: Germany's premiere on Instagram
On January 4, 2025, Love is Blind: Germany star Tolga took to his Instagram account to address the negative reaction he had received to his appearance on the show. He explained that he participated in the Netflix reality show because he believed it was an "opportunity" for him to "express" himself and find love.
The Love is Blind: Germany cast member stated that he understood that not everyone had the same opinions but clarified that nobody had the "right" to "confront" him or the other participants with "hate or threats."
"Everyone has the right to feel safe and respected, both online and offline," he added.
The Love is Blind: Germany participant further said that fans only saw "a fraction" of the dates and that in actuality, they went on for hours. Tolga further said he was not going to let the "negativity overwhelm" him but would continue to hold on to his journey and determination.
"And my hope is that we can all treat each other with more love and respect," he concluded.
Tolga was not the only Love is Blind: Germany cast member who addressed negativity online. Alberta also took to Instagram to detail the reaction she had got after the show.
She wrote in an Instagram post that the cast was "isolated" for two weeks while filming. She said that they were without their "trusted references," in a "new environment and situation." She further said that there were "a lot of emotions," and said the cast "laughed and cried together."
"My reactions were particularly highlighted to better convey my story," she wrote.
She wrote that she was aware she was "built very close to the water," and that each person dealt with their feelings in their own way. She added it didn't mean that she or anyone else was "emotionally unstable."
Alberta further wrote that she "opened up" and "allowed" her feelings, which she was "very proud of." She added that her emotions were hers and that it was her story.
"Don't forget, each of us has our own! I've tried my best to deal with this situation," she said.
The Love is Blind: Germany star urged fans to treat others with love instead of hate.
Love is Blind: Germany will release four more episodes (5-8) on January 10, followed by the season finale on January 19, 2025.
