Kathy Griffin has recently opened up about the aftermath of her divorce from Randy Bick when she appeared at the ERA Coalition Forward Women's Equality Trailblazer Awards along with the premiere of Still Working 9 to 5 on May 29, 2024.
The comedian approached the Superior Court of California for divorce from Bick on December 28 last year. The court documents obtained by People magazine revealed that the pair separated due to irreconcilable differences. During her latest interview with People magazine at the aforementioned event, she said:
"One day at a time. One show at a time. I thank God for this tour. I thank God it happened. I'm just so grateful to be on tour, so it takes my mind off it."
Kathy Griffin also referred to a quote by Joan Rivers which reads, "The more your life is in the sh*t, the fun you are." She then concluded by saying that she "must be hilarious," alluding to her own situation at this time.
Kathy Griffin brought a private investigator to search for Randy Bick: Attorney's response and other details explained
While Kathy Griffin filed for divorce in December last year, she was unable to get in touch with Randy Bick to provide the divorce papers. Bick also did not disclose anything on where he was staying and Griffin was forced to hire a private investigator to find Bick in March this year, as per People magazine. However, the legal documents stated that all attempts to find Bick were unsuccessful and that Griffin would "take steps to enter his default."
While there were a lot of speculations on Randy Bick's whereabouts, he was seeking spousal support and legal fees from Kathy Griffin based on the conditions mentioned in the prenuptial agreement.
Furthermore, Bick's attorney Heather Graham shared a statement with ET, saying that he has been represented by counsel since January this year. Graham added that his lawyer has been in touch with Griffin's attorney for the entire case and continued:
"Therefore, any claims that Ms. Griffin needed to 'hire a private investigator' to find Mr. Bick are disingenuous and are not supported by the facts. If Ms. Griffin needed to contact Mr. Bick, she should have simply had her lawyer call Mr. Bick's lawyer. Mr. Bick has complied with all statutory requirements and his response has been filed and served."
Kathy Griffin and Randy Bick split for a brief period in 2018
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star has been romantically linked to Bick since 2011. Although they separated in 2023, the pair had previously split for another time around six years ago. The news was additionally announced by Griffin via X (formerly Twitter), writing that she would "always adore him."
The pair first met at a wine festival and she recalled the meeting by saying that she was not expecting it to be "more than a one night stand." She further stated:
"Because I thought he was just a man-wh*re, if you will. So yeah, we've been together five years now, and we have a great time, and he's very sweet and very mellow. He's like a regular guy, you know, he's like a real guy. He's not like a Hollywood guy."
Before Bick, Griffin's name was linked to popular faces such as NFL star Isaiah Mustafa, and she was previously married to Matt Moline.
