"Religion is important to me" — The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary reveals why she decided to attend Meredith's Bat Mitzvah
The housewives at Meredith's Bat Mitzvah ceremony noticed Mary's absence and wondered if she would come. While speaking to Angie a week earlier, Mary confessed she was on the fence about attending the event. She expressed she was more concerned about what was happening at home with her son, Robert Jr.'s drug addiction.
"Right now my family needs me and that's what's important to me. I'm sorry," she said.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star mentioned she had been in a "state of shock" since learning about her son's condition. Mary called it her "worst nightmare" and added that she never imagined something like that would happen in her home.
However, she believed in God and knew she could fix the problem. Although Angie did not know what bothered Mary, she offered to help whenever needed.
After much deliberation, Mary finally decided to attend Meredith's Bat Mitzvah. While explaining what changed her mind, Mary said:
"With everything going on with Robert Jr., I did not know if I was gonna be here today. But religion is important to me. And so is Meredith."
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star added that despite everything she needed to show up to support her friend. Although Mary reached the venue, she struggled to locate the entrance. The windows were covered with a black tint that prevented Mary from seeing what was happening inside.
She placed her face on the window to take a peek inside but in vain. However, Mary was unaware that the people inside could see her. Heather, her daughter, Georgia, and Britani saw Mary trying to look inside.
"Oh, heavens. She's like literally peeking through the window," Britani said.
After several unsuccessful attempts, Mary finally found the door and entered. As she got seated, Meredith expressed her feelings about having her Bat Mitzvah and the significance of embracing one's culture.
