Love is Blind season 7 premiered on Netflix this week on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The installment brought a new batch of singles from Washington D.C. to the pods as they attempted to fall in love without letting superficial aspects get in the way.
One of the couples who got engaged while on the show was Garret Josemans and Taylor Krause, but their time in the pods wasn't without tension. While talking about her parents, Taylor told Garret that her mother was great and that everyone called her by her first name.
However, she refused to disclose what it was, as she didn't want to give away what she looked like, as the name would have given away the fact that she was Asian. At the time, Garret called her "calculated." He added that although he loved that about her, it made him wonder what Taylor was hiding.
The female cast member recalled being calculated by Garret in a conversation with Us Weekly on October 2, 2024. The Netflix reality star said:
"I’m just trying to be thoughtful. It was the first time that I felt, like, that punch in the gut during the experience."
Taylor continued that she didn't hold it against Garret because she understood where he was coming from.
"I wanted to take ethnicity out of equation"— Taylor Krause recalls her conversation with Garret in Love is Blind season 7
During the conversation with Us Weekly, the female Love is Blind season 7 cast member also discussed her time in the pods. Taylor talked to the publication about her and Garret's conversation revolving around looks and ethnicity in episode 1.
The Love is Blind season 7 star said she wanted to keep her looks a secret for as long as possible. She added that she didn't have to think a lot about whether she wanted to bring her ethnicity up. Taylor recalled that she was trying to "watch" herself and trying not to slip up.
"And my mom's name is Fond so that, I think, gives away pretty clearly that I'm Asian. I just wanted to take ethnicity out of equation," Taylor said.
The Love is Blind season 7 participant added that being in the pods was "actually pretty hard." She added that being on camera and having deep conversations without seeing someone took a while to get used to.
Did Taylor and Garret get engaged in Love is Blind season 7?
Taylor and Garret connected while in the pods on episode 1. The two got along quickly, and after their first conversation, Taylor described her and Garret's bond as an "instant connection."
The female cast member opened up to Garret about her parents. While she spoke about her father, Tom, she named him but was hesitant about telling the male participant her mother's name. She said that her mother was "an angel" and a "gangster" and that everyone loved her.
Garret, who hadn't thought about Taylor's ethnicity until then told her it was "interesting." He revealed that he had only dated "while girls" and said that it was shocking that she was so "calculated". Although he appreciated it, he wondered what else Taylor was hiding.
In the next episode, Garret asked Taylor if she was worried about how he looked. The female cast member replied in the negative. She joked that she hoped that she was taller than him. Garret said it was true that people cared about looks.
"Me, personally, like, I want my partner to find me attractive. That's something I desire. There's a reason why, like, I work out," he said.
The Love is Blind male cast member popped the question in episode 2, and the two got engaged and came face-to-face for the first time in episode 3.
