Johnny was upset with Michele for being upset with Josh for cheering him on in episode 12's elimination task, and the conflict continued throughout the episode. Later in the segment, the two argued again while returning from the daily challenge, and several female cast members defended Michele.
Fans of the reality show reacted to Michele and Bananas' conflict online. One person wrote on X:

In The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, season 40 episode 13, Johnny Bananas confronted Michele about being upset with Josh for cheering for him. The female cast member admitted to being angry at Josh because him supporting the male cast member went against her strategy.
Josh also chimed in on the situation, saying he felt stuck in the middle and should have been able to cheer for whomever he wanted. Later in the episode, as the cast returned from the daily challenge, Michele made a "personal" comment about Johnny Bananas and Aviv Melmed by implying they were seemingly playing "footsies" with one another.
The Challenge season 40 cast member was unhappy with the insinuation and criticized her behavior. He commented on her having to compete in the upcoming elimination challenge and said:

Michele's friends, Cara Maria and Olivia, defended the cast member and criticized Johnny Bananas. Cara Maria told him not to act like he was the "hero," while Michele stated that he was the "hero of this narrative." Olivia called him "the problem," while Cara asked him to leave Michele alone.
