"Real talent" — The Voice fans praise Shye's solo performance in the Semi-finals

The Voice aired a new episode on Monday, December 2, 2024. It was the first night of the Live Shows, during which the eight remaining artists gave their all to win America's votes and make the final five. One such contestant was Shye from Michael Bublé's team who wowed the judges with her rendition of Brandi Carlile's The Joke.

Michael had high hopes for Shye and wanted to give her the freedom to showcase her tonal quality. Consequently, he advised the band not to play towards the end of Shye's performance, allowing her to finish acapella.

Shye's take on Brandi Carlile's song amazed the mentors. The coaches believed her performances stood out each time because of her unique tone and vocal range.

The Voice fans were in awe of Shye's solo act. They took to X to applaud her, convinced that she had the potential to win the show.

"Shye transcends genre, vocal type, classifications. Just mesmerizing throughout her range, so distinct, living out the lyric up there. This took me on a journey. She's so young to be so incredibly poised and expressive. Real talent," a fan wrote.

Many fans of The Voice complimented Shye's voice and were pleased with her Semi-finals performance.

"You are the real deal" — The Voice coach Michael Bublé applauds Shye's solo performance

The 18-year-old Bethlehem, Pennsylvania resident brought her sister as her guardian. Before stepping onto the stage, Shye revealed that her sister trained her in music and showed her the ropes of stage performance.

Michael knew Shye had a unique tone and wanted her to enhance it. The Voice coach instructed the band to stop playing towards the end of Shye's solo act. However, the band failed to follow the instructions and finished their set onstage.

Despite the error, Shye managed to captivate the coaches and the audience with her voice. They were impressed by how easily she sang the high as well as the low notes. While reviewing her act, coach Gwen Stefani said she could "see the record now," convinced that Shye had the potential to establish herself in the music industry.

Reba McEntire echoed Gwen's sentiments and noted that she was mesmerized by Shye's voice, which was "pure and crisp." Michael's evaluation was just as complimentary. He congratulated The Voice contestant and said:

"You are the real deal."

He placed her next to musical legends Adele, Barbra Streisand, and Celine Dion, saying that Shye's voice resembled theirs. Moreover, Michael added that he had never heard someone with a voice as unique as hers.
