CBS's Survivor season 47 aired a new episode this week on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The segment saw the cast compete in a series of challenges followed by another tribal council that sent Sol Yi packing.
The eliminated contestant spoke to Entertainment Weekly about his time on the show and the events that led to his departure from the reality show. During the conversation dated November 14, Sol chimed in on Teeny and Sam voting for him at the tribal council and called it "the right move."
He said he was not surprised that he was unanimously voted out and said that both Teeny and Sam were smart players. He said that once the two knew Andy and Rachel were voting otherwise, they had to go the other way.
"Otherwise we're on the bottom next week. So it was the right move," he said.
Survivor season 47's eliminated castaway Sol Yi comments on his elimination
Sol's elimination was featured in episode 9 of Survivor. The segment saw Genevieve lay down a path for Sol's elimination and the cast member discussed the same in conversation with EW. The publication asked the castaway whether he was surprised or not. Sol was also asked if Genevieve was upset that he was "after Rome"
Sol replied that he was an "8.1" on the surprise level because he believed he and the female contestant had "hashed everything" out. He added that he didn't know she still had a "vendetta" against him. Talking about what wasn't included in the final edit, Sol said Teeny told him that Genevieve "did this."
He added that he wanted to "get" Genevieve but nobody wanted to do that, which was why he was eliminated.
"I was quite shocked," Sol said.
The publication asked the Survivor season 47 cast member if anything else didn't make the final edit. Sol praised the production team and said they "did a really good job" of showing what happened. He said it was "crazy" and that he walked back and forth multiple times because so much happening. He recalled Jeff Probst asking him how he felt and Sol implied that his confidence had started to fade.
Sol added that he felt like he had the majority of votes in his favor but he was wrong. The Survivor contestant further said he considered using his "Shot in the Dark" but he didn't feel like he needed to, at the time.
The contestant was asked about feeling conflicted on choosing who to vote between Kyle and Sue and he said he was trying to get a read on Genevieve. He added that there was an "odd" feeling before the tribal council because Genevieve made a "weird statement." Before the tribal council, Sol asked the cast member if they were "getting Sam" out and she told him that she was "just happy" to be on the show.
He added that although it wasn't shown, Teeny and Sol looked at one another after Genevieve's statement and agreed that she was being "odd."
The publication further asked Sol about things that he wished were included in the show. The Survivor season 47 contestant responded that he and Teeny shared "so many hilarious moments." He added that he wished more moments of their friendship were included in the final edit.
After Sol's elimination, those who still remain in the race include Teeny, Rachel, Genevieve, Gabe, Kyle, Sam, Andy, Sue, and Caroline. Tune in next week on Wednesday at 8 pm ET to watch the next episode of Survivor season 47 on CBS.
