“Rude”- The Real Housewives of Potomac fans criticize Karen for inviting the cast to her award function

The Real Housewives of Potomac season 9 episode 2 was released on October 13, 2024, only on Bravo. Titled Double Trouble, the episode saw Gizelle Bryant and Karen Huger hosting the ladies for their events at the same time. Gizelle had set up a GnA charity event that promoted her athleisure brand. The event was held in Gizelle's father's honor, who recently passed away due to a brain tumor.

Karen, meanwhile, went to visit Gizelle the day before the event and told her about the award function the next day. After going home, Karen texted the rest of the cast members, asking them to attend her function.

This left Gizelle infuriated because Karen hadn't told her that she would be inviting the cast to her award function when she visited Gizelle. Additionally, Gizelle didn't think it was appropriate for Karen to take away from Gizelle's event as it was going to be held in memory of her late father.

Fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac took to X to criticize Karen for her behavior. Many said that it was "weird" and that Karen had "played in Gizelle's face."

"Karen played in Gizelle’s face and it’s weird… like her dad just died and she told you the event was about him and his brain tumor and you invite the girls to your event on the same time? Smh no accountability and rude," said one fan.

"Now I don't always agree with Gizelle, but Karen... this is for her father. That's a little wild and sending it the morning of is crazy work babe lol," said another fan.

"Sorry but Karen was in the wrong here. Pulling this stunt at an event Gizelle was hosting to honor her father is low," a third fan added.

"Karen... it's not about likability. Gizelle's father passed away and her event was to celebrate him. This isn't the time for pettiness," another fan said.

Some fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac also pointed out that Karen was using the award function as a façade to cover up her recent DUI charge.

"Karen is unnecessarily messy for this fake *ss award… Trying to distract from the fact that she ran into a f*cking tree drunk driving it's really weird and tacky," said an X user.

"Karen tryna cover up this DUI sh*t with all these fake *ss awards & interviews. You’re a DRUNK. Everybody in Potomac knows," another X user said.

"Karen wants the ladies to have unwavering loyalty towards her, but its okay for her to straddle the fence when it comes to someone else. Chile…," a third fan wrote.

"This was not about likability, this was about supporting the National Brain Tumor Society AND invite etiquette. Karen wanted to accept some booby prize in order to undermine both," another fan wrote.

What went on when Karen and Gizelle hosted events at the same time on The Real Housewives of Potomac?

Gizelle was furious when she got Karen's text inviting all the women, including Stacey, Mia, and Jassi, to her award function. The function was set to be held at the same time as Gizelle's charity event on The Real Housewives of Potomac season 9 episode 2.

She responded and told the three to go to Karen's event instead.

Mia Thorton, Stacey Rusch, and Jassi Rideaux were in an impossible situation, so they decided to attend both. They first went to Karen's award function and saw her receiving the award, then quickly tried making it to Gizelle's GnA event before the deadline.

However, because they were late to the event and because they attended Karen's award function and saw her receive the award, Gizelle was furious. She also asked her The Real Housewives of Potomac cast members to leave her event.
