Season 15 of the coveted franchise The Great British Bake Off kicked off on September 24. In episode 2 that aired a week later on October 1, one of the contestants had to quit because of ill health, and two others had literally fallen down.

Jeff, a university lecturer, quit the show in episode 2 as the work ethic of the show wasn't helping his failing health. Then, Illiyin Morris, a 31-year-old midwife, also succumbed to the pressures of the show. She was put into a recovery position by the medics on set after which she told them that she was a bit dizzy. Giving reasons for the same, Illiyin wrote on her Instagram on October 3:

"I was running on pure adrenaline during that challenge. I hadn’t eaten since the day before (strange eating habits) and despite production reminding me to drink, I was immersed in puppet theatre engineering".

The third person to fell down was Dylan. Read on to know the details of episode 2 and what Illiyin shared on Instagram.

"I did what I could" — Illiyin Morisson details her fall on The Great British Bake Off season 15

Illiyin Morrison, a birth trauma specialist midwife, fainted in The Great British Bake Off's tent. It happened not long after she finished making her puppet theater out of biscuits, a task for the contestants in episode 2.

Her dish, called Strawberry Fields Forever, was inspired by the first date she had with her husband. After she fainted, the host Noel Fielding took over and presented her dish to the judges on her behalf.

The 31-year-old Norfolk resident then took to her Instagram to explain the incident.

"Artistic engineering is a madness to me. Especially with biscuit. It has never been something I’m good at but one thing about me is I’m not a quitter. I finished the bake and I did what I could and I was judged for it and I’m glad," Illiyin said.

Illiyin added that she was running on adrenaline because she hadn't eaten the day before. The moment the time was up on the challenge, her shoulders dropped down with relief and she fell down on the floor. She also mentioned that it had never happened in her life.

She said that fainting on TV made her feel a "sense of deep shame" but as someone who helped people get through shame, she said she knew it would take time. In the post, she thanked a bunch of people associated with the show, some cast and crew members who helped her when she fainted.

The crisis of two other contestants on The Great British Bake Off season 15

After judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood evaluated the dishes on The Great British Bake Off, another contestant named Dylan fell off while sitting down on his chair. It looked like another case of fainting, but it wasn't because Dylan said he fell while trying to grab the water bottle.

The 20-year-old's fall combined with Morrison's fall made Judge Paul exclaim:

"What the hell is going on?"

Meanwhile, Essex contestant Andy said that they were "dropping like flies".

Illiyin and Dylan's drop came after Jeff's exit from the show. He was already ill in episode 1 of the show but quit in episode 2 saying he had enough of it. Talking to the presenter, Allison Hammond, Jeff said he was done after being sick for a second consecutive week. Allison consoled him saying he tried.

New episodes of The Great British Bake Off season 15 come out on Tuesdays, at 8 pm, on Channel 4.
