Season 6 of Love Island Australia premiered on Thursday, October 28, 2024. Hopeful singles entered the villa, hoping to find a compatible islander. After initial introductions, the cast members began mingling and forming connections. In episode 3, the contestants experienced their first elimination, bidding farewell to Kane, who was paired with Xanthe.
The couple displayed solid chemistry, however, things went south after host Sophie Monk threw a challenge their way. After the villa's first bombshell, Taylor stole Eilisha from Dylan, Dylan was at risk of going home. However, he could evade elimination if he could sway one of the other girls to couple up with him.
While Dylan persuaded Mimi, her former partner, Zane caught Xanthe's attention, making Kane feel vulnerable. Later in the episode, Sophie announced that none of the male islanders were safe except Taylor. Each girl faced a choice to either stick with their current partners or twist and choose a new one. As Mimi paired with Dylan, Xanthe coupled up with Zane, ending Kane's journey in the villa.
Love Island Australia fans took to X to react to Kane's eviction. Many were upset to see him leave the show and criticized Xanthe's decision to pair with Zane.
"Kane seems so so sweet and wholesome I’m sad he’s gone," a fan wrote.
"Aw Kane is such a cutie I wish indigo left," another fan commented.
"Kane was the best man this season but unfortunately women don't rate good guys," a netizen tweeted.
Many Love Island Australia fans criticized Xanthe for coupling with Zane. They claimed he would break her heart later in the show.
"apparently my girl xanthe will be learning it the hard way. istg choosing zane is the wrong move, i fear he will play my girl (and the reason why she will be dump)," a user reacted.
"I like Xanthe but I don’t picking Zane was the right decision," a person commented.
"I’m sorry but in Indigo should have went home. He is boring. Also, why do I think Xanthe will regret her decision by Zane. I just have a weird feeling," another fan wrote.
Love Island Australia fans were disappointed by Kane's eviction and thought other islanders deserved to be the first ones 'dumped' from the villa.
"Kane being dumped from the villa already hurts Casa Amor please have him be there!" one user posted.
"Sad to see #KaneGodlevsky go, but he’s definitely going to enjoy everything in the outside," a person reacted.
"JUSTICE FOR KANEEEEEEEE MY POOR BABEEEEEE INDINGO SHOULD BE THE ONE GONEEEEE," another netizen commented.
Love Island Australia star Xanthe struggled to choose between Kane and Zane
Sophie Monk announced the Stick or Twist challenge and threw the islanders for a loop. Each female cast member had to make a difficult decision. They could stick to their current partners or twist and pair with a new man. Whoever remained single by the end of the recoupling round would get ousted from the villa.
After Mimi paired with Dylan, leaving Zane single, Xanthe wondered if she should couple up with him. She confessed it was a "hard decision" for her since she had a good connection with Zane and Kane both. However, she admitted she needed to trust her instincts and follow her heart.
Consequently, Xanthe twisted and coupled up with Zane, rendering Kane single. The Love Island Australia star broke down after announcing her decision.
Kane and Indigo were the last two contestants left at the ceremony. After Em stuck with her partner, Indigo, Kane was evicted from the villa. Before leaving, the Love Island Australia star confided in Indigo, saying this was how most of his previous relationships ended which was why he hated being in one.
Kane asked Xanthe not to stress about her decision and embraced her goodbye. While speaking to the cameras, Xanthi said:
"I am really upset that he's going and I'm even more upset that it's because of me."
Although Kane was upset he could not find love inside the villa, he hoped to find it somewhere else.
Love Island Australia airs Monday through Thursday at 9 pm AEDT on 9Now.
