To celebrate Father's Day, Savannah Chrisley penned an emotional tribute about "missing" her father, Todd Chrisley, as both her parents continue to serve time in prison for tax fraud. While posting a video on Instagram on June 16, 2024, the reality TV star wrote in the caption that missing her father at this time hit her "like a ton of bricks" as she sat at the airport in Pensacola, Florida.
Reflecting on the "profound impact" of her dad's absence on Father's Day for the "second year in a row," Chrisley continued:
"This isn't just about missing him at the dinner table, or the lack of his laughter and the jokes filling our home and family...it's about the profound impact his absence has had on our family."
Alongside a lengthy caption, the Chrisley Knows Best star shared snaps of her family over the years with Jelly Roll's song I Am Not Okay as the background score.
For the unversed, AP News reported that Todd and Julie Chrisley (Savannah's parents) were found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud. They entered the prison in January 2023 after being sentenced to a combined 19 years in May 2022. Their sentences were reduced late in 2023, with Todd's by about two years and Julie's by 14 months.
Savannah Chrisley talks about "struggling" after her dad was sent to prison on her Father's Day tribute
Savannah Chrisley has been hoping to see her parents come home. In her Instagram tribute, she talked about the struggle the family had to endure since her parents went to prison.
Reflecting on her dad serving his sentence from past 17 months, she said:
"[And] since then, our family has been struggling to find our footing. The void left by his absence is undeniable. Our family, one that was whole and complete, now feels fractured and incomplete without my sweet mama and daddy."
The reality TV star also expressed her feelings toward the "harsh realities" of the country's prison system. While admittedly not having first-hand experience, Savannah Chrisley said that going to prison doesn't only punish an individual, but the family as a whole.
"It tears at the true core of families, leaving behind wounds that are slow to heal," Chrisley added.

She further wrote about the proverbial "wounds" of seeing her parents sent to prison and being away from them for over a year. Chrisley admitted that she doesn't know if those wounds will ever heal.
"The supposed justice often feels unjust, and the system designed to protect us sometimes feels like it's doing the opposite," Chrisley continued.
She explicitly added that she is "not okay," sharing that the "pain of losing [her] father to prison" is something she carries with her daily and that it's "unbearable" at times.

On a hopeful note, Savannah Chrisley mentioned that she is "committed to fighting for justice," as she believes that no family should have to endure the hurt and trauma of an "imperfect" justice system. She further noted:
"We all deserve better, and I will advocate tirelessly to ensure that our justice system becomes a force for healing and restoration, not further pain and division."
Savannah Chrisley concluded the post by writing that she "will never stop fighting the good fight."
