"Season 40 rejects"— The Challenge fans unhappy with All Stars: Rivals' cast list

MTV's The Challenge, which is currently airing Battle of the Eras (season 40) recently revealed the release date and cast list of its spin-off, All Stars season 5. The upcoming season of All Stars, titled, Rivals, will feature former contestants of the franchise competing as teams, and will be paired up with someone they had evident conflict with in the past.

Fans of the long-running franchise commented on the upcoming cast list online and were unhappy with the contestants who are set to compete in All Stars: Rivals.

"First time in a long time I have NOT been excited for a season, I mean was NO ONE ELSE available? These are like the season 40 rejects. Awful awful cast, except for Ashley M. They could have kept this one," one person wrote on X.

"I don't think i could possibly pick a worst cast. I mean I thought 39 cast was the worst but this one blows it out of the water. Literally every person I can't stand on one season. Only bearable ones to me is Steve and Kelly Anne. The rest," a fan commented.

"Soooo disappointed. The all stars spin off should bring some nostalgia back for all the die hard fans who have been watching since their childhood. They did well for a few season, but what the hell is this?! There's even people on it who have literally been on 1 single challenge," a tweet read.

Fans of The Challenge wondered what was "going on?"

"As a massive challenge fan I'm usually so hyped for any season. But there are some absolutely insufferable people on this cast. Wtf is going on? There's so many greats to pick from and this is what y'all come up with?!? Are u trying to kill off All-Stars?" a person wrote.

"I love The Challenge. However, it’s been better on Paramount + and this cast is underwhelming. Hopefully it will turn out great!" a fan commented.

"I really wish they cast actual all-stars on the show called All-Stars. The idea of this spin off was SO GOOD but the execution is crap. The same people who cast for The Challenge must be casting for this too," a tweet read.

Fans of The Challenge further said:

"Great idea bringing this theme back but why do people being regularly casted on the main show have to now be on all stars too? Talk about over saturated," a person wrote.

"great cast but could do without Devin, Fessy, or Aneesa. why they always gotta add in VA ppl they are already running the flagship and are on every flagship season, keep them there and bring ppl to all stars we havent seen in a long time. there are so many OG’s to pick from!" a fan commented.

Who is set to appear in The Challenge: All Stars: Rivals?

The Challenge: All Stars Rivals (season 5), a spin-off of the MTV franchise, is set to air on January 29, 2024, on MTV rather than its usual streaming platform, Paramount+.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the network announced the cast of the upcoming show, which will feature a total number of 26 contestants, competing in pairs of two. The show brought back its rivals theme and will pair contestants up with their on-screen nemesis from the franchise.
