Grant Ellis teases emotional moments and unique connections on The Bachelor season 29
An open and intentional approach to the process
In an exclusive interview with Parade on January 25, 2025, Ellis, a 31-year-old day trader based in Houston, explained that he entered the process with a clear mindset. Reflecting on his past appearance as a contestant on The Bachelorette featuring Jenn Tran, he noted the importance of vulnerability.
He emphasized the need to avoid preconceived notions, as doing so might hinder genuine connections with the women. During the premiere episode, Ellis will meet 25 contestants, each stepping out of a limousine to make a memorable first impression. Reflecting on that experience, he said:
“Meeting the ladies, they were amazing. They all brought something different to the table, and the experience was something that was once in a lifetime.”
The Bachelor star also underscored his preference for authenticity in potential partners.
“I was looking for somebody who was genuine. That’s one thing I don’t think you can fake,” he said.
He further explained that getting to know each contestant’s background and personality was a vital part of his decision-making process.
Careful consideration of key moments
Ellis acknowledged that certain aspects of the journey were particularly challenging. One such moment is the fantasy suites episode, where contestants and the lead are given private, off-camera time to explore their relationships. Addressing how he approached this episode, The Bachelor star remarked:
“I approached them very carefully. I think any time physical intimacy is involved, it can enhance feelings so I really tried to wait because I didn’t want to make a decision off of that and be confused.”
Ellis also commented on the emotional difficulty of eliminations, especially as deeper connections were formed.
“It was hard for me on night one to send somebody home after I got to know them. And it only gets harder throughout the season as it progresses and people’s story gets involved. Their family gets involved, and their past gets involved, and you start to care for these ladies more and more.”
Memorable experiences and unique dates
Throughout the season, Ellis and the contestants will participate in a variety of dates, some of which draw inspiration from popular culture. A sneak peek for the season reveals one such date inspired by Netflix’s Bridgerton, involving ballroom dancing and vintage costumes. Although Ellis admitted to not having watched the show, he appreciated the unique nature of the experience.
Travel also plays a significant role in this season. The Bachelor star mentioned during the Parade interview:
“There was a lot of travel. Not only did I love the dates but I loved trying the new foods that were everywhere. I’m a foodie, so I loved to travel and try new things.”
Music, another aspect of Ellis’s life, is expected to make an appearance during his time as The Bachelor.
“Music’s a big part of my life. I don’t take it too seriously, but it allows me to process and express what I feel,” Ellis shared.
The Bachelor star hinted that viewers might see him incorporating this passion into his interactions with the contestants.
