Love Is Blind alum Shaina Hurley got candid about being diagnosed with cancer just a few months after she got the news that she was pregnant with her "miracle" baby.

In an exclusive interview with People, published on Wednesday, September 4, the reality TV star revealed how she confronted the news of having cervical cancer in the middle of her pregnancy. She explained:

"I had no symptoms. But later, the doctor called me and said that a Pap smear results had come back as abnormal and they needed to get me in for a colonoscopy."

The news from her doctor came after she did a routine eight-week pap smear while pregnant with her son Yiorgos David, whom she gave birth on February 1.

After the colonoscopy, Shaina Hurley revealed that the doctor told her "right away, 'It's not looking good.'" Doctors gave her the dire news that she had Stage 2 cervical cancer one day later.

The Love Is Blind star expressed her fear when she heard the news at the time but also said that she couldn't "let the enemy take over [her] mind." She had to go into "survival mode" and, at some point, put her trust in God and "prayed for the best."

Shaina Hurley said she passed on a certain procedure to remove the cancer for her baby

In the same interview with People, Shaina Hurley revealed that she passed on a certain cancer treatment because she knew the risk it posed for her unborn baby. She explained that her doctors wanted her to undergo a cold-knife conization where they would remove a piece of tissue from her cervix.

The procedure will supposedly help them find out if the cancer has spread to other parts and remove as much of it as possible. Talking about the reason why she passed on the procedure, the Love Is Blind star said:

"The problem is, I was pregnant. [The] cervix is what holds the pregnancy. I was just at around three months and so I would most likely lose the baby."

Hurley said that she couldn't risk it. The next best solution for her then was laparoscopic surgery. They found out that the cancer hadn't spread to her lymph nodes. But despite that, doctors wanted her to get chemotherapy. She also denied getting chemo, explaining that she still didn't have any symptoms then.

According to the reality TV star, she was advocating for both herself and her unborn baby throughout her pregnancy and cancer battle. She admitted to being a "tough patient" to her doctors because she denied most of their requests for procedures, including their suggestion that she give birth at 32 weeks.

Delivering her baby earlier would have helped the doctors know if the cancer had spread, but Shaina Hurley said that she felt that 32 weeks was "too early" and couldn't risk it.

Thankfully, the Love Is Blind alum revealed that she's now "on the other side" and is cancer-free after the surgeries she's done after giving birth.
