The Challenge: Battle of the Eras aired episode 12 this week on November 6, 2024. The segment saw three cast members eliminated, two during the purge and one after the elimination arena.
As part of the purge's format, whoever placed last during the daily challenge, was automatically eliminated. This included Nehemiah and Laurel Stucky. Towards the end of the task, Laurel expressed wanting to go home and not wanting to torture herself further.
Since the episode aired, Laurel's on-screen rival, Cara Maria commented on her exit online and claimed that the cast member didn't quit. Via her Instagram stories, she said:
"She didn't "quit"— she WAS NOT IN THE SHAPE MENTALLY OR PHYSICALLY TO COMPLETE THE MISSION."
The cast member also commented on Laurel's decision to give Johnny Bananas a "1 star" while leaving the show.
"Nasty unhinged behaviors"— The Challenge star Cara Maria slams Laurel Stucky online
After Nurys Mateo, Cara Maria became the second star from The Challenge season 40 to criticize Laurel Stucky online. While Nurys' critique was related to something the latter said outside of the show, Cara Maria criticized her behavior during Battle of the Eras.
Via her Instagram stories, the cast member stated that if she were Laurel, she would "lick the boots" of the show's Gods for editing her "sympathetically" during season 40. She added there were so many confessionals from people who were "put off" by her behavior.
"So many nasty unhinged behaviors towards other people deleted," she added.
The Challenge season 40 cast member urged Laurel to "count all the lucky stars" that were gifted to Laurel again. She noted that everybody's "eyes" were open and that life in the house was going to get a lot less "silence of the lambs" since her elimination.
Chiming in on Laurel's elimination, Cara Maria said that the night before the purge task, she predicted on camera that Laurel knew she couldn't beat the other female cast members. Cara stated that Laurel would "never" be able to complete a final if she couldn't run across the "dirt fields" like in some of their previous tasks.
"I knew she was going to get purged soon," Cara added.
The Challenge: Battle of the Eras star further commented on Laurel giving Johnny Bananas a 1 star to "mess up his game." Cara said that despite the male contestant defending her on every podcast, she went against him. She added that the MTV reality star forgot the "Golden Rule" of the show, which was "trust. No. One. Ever."
Laurel's response
The eliminated cast member responded to her rival's Instagram stories via her own. She said that Cara Maria was "mad" because she could never beat Laurel. She added that her alliances always won or she beat her and called her "sour."
"Bitter must taste so bad in her mouth," Laurel added,
The Challenge season 40 star added that Cara Maria had not been able to keep Laurel's name "out of her mouth" since they started the show. She added that Cara would never be an athlete she "envies" in Laurel. The cast member further called her "uncoordinated" and said that Cara only won a season because the "real female athletes" had left the show.
The cast member claimed that Cara Maria used her as "motivation to be better. Laurel further claimed that she coached her in athletics and personally when they were friends, and said that if the two hadn't been partnered up during Rivals, Cara would have "faded into the distance."
In another story, Laurel added Cara as "the girl who will not quit" talking about her. She said that she would get "kicked off" the show again and she would "be a witness to it." She added that Cara "deserved" being kicked off from The Challenge and that she felt sorry Cara was "unhappy" in her relationship with "no purpose in life."
Laurel Stucky was eliminated from The Challenge season 40 in episode 12 while Cara Maria is still in the running to win the MTV show.
