The Voice UK contestant Bette Reynolds is comedian Stewart Reynolds' mother
Bette appeared on the show, wanting to do herself and her family proud. She admitted it was a "big privilege" to step on the stage. In her introduction clip, she revealed that she had not "been on stage since 1966." However, she added that one could still be a "young thing" if they put their mind to it.
Ahead of her appearance on the reality show, Stewart shared a post on his official Instagram handle on September 25, 2024, where he revealed the recent occurings in his mother's life. The post said that Bette had been a "24/7 caregiver" for his father, who was diagnosed with dementia. After losing him in January, Bette filmed The Voice UK in February.
"She released 2 songs since and we just finished filming her Christmas music video. She's an inspiration," said the post's caption.
As soon as the singer hit the stage, the live audience got on their feet and applauded to the song's beat, leaving the coaches curious about the singer's identity. Behind the stage, her son grooved to the song's rhythm. Singer-songwriter, Will.i.am, could not wipe the smile off his face.
Meanwhile, Tom and Danny debated pressing their button, eager to see the singer. They turned their chair in the nick of time, causing an uproar among the audience.
"We had to turn to see what was creating this amazing atmosphere in this room. Every single person that I was looking at out there had the biggest smile on their face," Tom Fletcher said.
Bette said that despite losing her husband recently, she pushed herself to "go through with it." She added she did it for her late partner, who used to be a "fun guy."
The Voice UK airs every Saturday on ITV1, ITVX, and STV.
