Episode 7 of The Braxtons season 1, titled Lights, Camera, Braxtons!, was released on September 20. The episode featured the sisters and Mama Evelyn at a photo shoot. Towanda also opened up to her boyfriend, Sean, about her journey with Alopecia, and he asked about her upcoming appointment.
Towanda shared that she wasn't ashamed of it "anymore". When Sean demanded to know more about it, she talked about the stigma that's attached to a woman and her hair, and how it impacted her earlier. She also shared that she had been experiencing hair thinning since season 1 of Braxtons Family Values, which is why she would wear pigtails while shooting.
Fans of The Braxtons came to X to react to Towanda talking so openly about her journey with Alopecia. Most fans praised her for being strong and complimented her current look; while some others were shocked to find out she was experiencing it since season 1 of the popular show.

"Shoutout to Towanda for being courageous and transparent with her hair journey and what she had to go through with her hair," a fan wrote.
"Having alopecia is a tough thing to deal with! I often have my days when I look in the mirror at what used to be so I commend Towanda for being strong and embracing her change," wrote another fan.
"Towanda does pull being bald off good though because not a lot of people can do that," a third one added.

Many of The Braxtons fans couldn't believe she was going through it in season 1 of Braxton Family Values. Some even said that they thought Towanda was shaving her head to support her late sister Traci's cancer battle.
"I thought Towanda originally said she shaved her head for TRACI cancer battle? Now it's because of alopecia?" wrote an X user.
"Wow it’s good to hear Towanda share about her hair. I didn’t know it went back as far as season 1!" wrote another.

Towanda talks to Sean about her journey with Alopecia on episode 7 of The Braxtons season 1
Before meeting Sean on The Braxtons, Towanda told her sisters Toni and Trina that she’s been in a relationship with him for 9 years and feels at peace and grateful for it.
Then when she sat down with Sean and shared that she was in the seventh grade, when a girl commented on her hair. This struck a chord in her and made her feel like she would never let anybody else make her feel bad about herself.
During season 1 of Braxtons Family Values, she revealed she wore pigtails to cover her bald patches and in season 2 was relieved to know she could hide her patches behind a wig.
Sean then reminisced about the time when he saw her for the first time and complimented her natural hair. Towanda said she was very grateful to have found a partner who supported her on every journey and made her feel secure.
