"Pushing a showmance on Makensey": Big Brother season 26 fans unhappy with Matt's behavior towards cast member

While the highlight of the segment was Matt and Angela's feud, another interaction caught the viewer's eye and they were not happy with it. Fans noticed that Matt and Makensy were growing closer but felt like the male cast member was pushing for a "romantic" angle despite Makensy previously expressing her disinterest. One person wrote on X:

Big Brother season 26 fans wondered whether the showmance was a product of production interference:

"Matt is just great": Makensy chimes in on her relationship with Matt in Big Brother season 26 episode 4

In Big Brother, season 26 episode 4, Matt and Makensy's relationship was explored a bit as their beds were next to one another. In the middle of the night, the two got to know one another as Matt asked whether the cast member was a "high-maintenance girl."

"You're going to figure that out for yourself, she replied.

In a confessional, Matt said that while he wouldn't say that he and Makensy were a "showmance" there was "definitely a vibe" between the two. Meanwhile, the female Big Brother season 26 contestant also chimed in on the same during one of her confessionals and said:

"Matt is just great. He is so sweet, so kind, he's very good looking and I'm loving getting to know him. You just got to play hard to get, just make 'em want a little bit more," Makensy said.

While in bed, Matt said that he was going to tell everyone that she was flirting with him. He joked that he would tell people that's why he couldn't get enough sleep. Makensy replied that just because they had conversations didn't mean she was flirting with him. She added that just because she was "pretty" and knew how to talk didn't mean she was flirting with the Big Brother season 26 houseguest.

"You are pretty and you can talk," Matt said.

Watching the episode back, fans of the CBS show felt that the network was trying to "shove" the showmance down their throats and criticized Matt for trying to pursue Makensy.
