“So dumb”- Love After Lockup fans criticize Justine for giving her children’s custody to her eldest daughter

Season 5 of Love After Lockup released episode 44 on October 25. The episode was titled Red Flags & White Dresses and documented the couples taking steps to better their future after getting out of prison, under the Life After Lockup segment of the show.

Justine and Michael visited the attorney to put terms on Justine's will. She was making a will because her ongoing pregnancy was a high-risk one, something that needed such a thing in place in case she passed away. While there, she asked the attorney to give custody of her minor children to her daughter, Kyllei.

This wasn't taken well by Michael, the netizens, or even the attorney. He suggested that Michael and Kyllei take joint custody, that way they both could have a say on the decisions they needed to make for the children's lives. Michael left the room because he was hurt by the fact that Justine didn't trust him.

Justine defended herself by saying that since one of the children fell on the spectrum, he needed special care and only Kyllei knew how to. Fans of Love After Lockup flocked to X to criticize Justine's decision.

"Justine is just so dumb. you wanna keep having babies by this man but then don’t trust him to take care of the kids if you die? wtf is you really doing?" a fan said.

"Justine your daughter did not agree to be no guardian of your child," another person said.

"Micheal I get it. Justine if you can't trust Micheal with your kids then why are y'all together," another fan added.

"Justine doesn't even make sense to me because if you think your man is that bad why do you keep making kids with him?" another person wrote.

Some fans of Love After Lockup also called her out for putting such a huge responsibility on a teenage daughter.

"Justine and Micheal are purely both selfish individuals to get pregnant this soon after another and not think of the consequences and to put custody on a 19-year-old is selfish," one person wrote.

"Justine is WILD af for even thinking about putting all that responsibility on Kyllei. She's too young to be taking care of multiple kids if something goes bad for Justine," another person said.

"Justine is wrong for putting that kind of pressure on her daughter's life. That's a lot of pressure for a 19-year-old," another X user wrote.

"I think that last baby made Justine lose her f**king brain. your seriously sitting there creating a will instead of ending your f**king pregnancy?!?! & you just putting all this responsibility on your oldest daughter?!" another person wrote.

The conversation between Justine, Michael, and the attorney on Love After Lockup season 5 episode 44

Michael and Justine started arguing in front of the attorney when she revealed she wanted Kyllei to take custody of their minor children. It resulted in Michael walking out of the room and talking to a Love After Lockup confessional. He said he felt disrespected as a father because she didn't trust him with the kids.

Meanwhile, Justine explained to the attorney that after being released from prison, Michael had been with the family only for a year. Whereas her daughter knew of their needs because she grew up with them. She said Kyllei knew how to calm the one on the spectrum.

She justified her decision on a Love After Lockup confessional, by saying that Michael could get into a "mood" when things didn't go his way. The duo share 8 kids as of episode 44, four of Michael's kids with a previous partner, three of Justine's kids with her previous partner, and one of their own. Justine said she only trusted Kyllei to love her children as much as she did.
