The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3 released new episodes on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Episode 7, titled The Changeover, saw the cast members end their trial marriages and reunite with their original partners to decide whether to marry or move on. Among them was J.R., who despite being excited to reconnect with Zaina, could not stop praising Sandy.
Sandy and J.R. were the only trial pair that got intimate during their time together besides forming a deep emotional connection. J.R.'s original girlfriend, Zaina, was unaware of their physical connection. When she learned about it during the changeover, she was shocked.
However, J.R. defended himself saying he wanted to embrace the experience and not let boundaries prevent him from feeling certain emotions. Although Zaina was upset, J.R. continued to detail how beautiful his connection with Sandy was.
"We really had an amazing trial marriage. It really felt like a real marriage," he said.
The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On fans were unimpressed by J.R.'s behavior during the changeover. They took to X to criticize him for fondly revisiting his time with Sandy in front of his girlfriend. Netizens deemed J.R.'s demeanor disrespectful and claimed Zaina deserved better.
"The way JR is gushing over Sandy during the turnover dinner is so embarrassing he can’t contain his love for her and the way they are going off on Nick is so ridiculous cut it out," a fan wrote.
"JR has got to be clinically ill to be talking to Sandy like this in front of Zaina like what in the hell?" another fan commented.

Many fans of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On criticized J.R. for disrespecting Zaina by talking about Sandy in front of her.

Zaina was shocked when she heard about J.R. and Sandy's kiss. She inquired who initiated it and J.R. replied that it was mutual. The male cast member explained that he participated in the experiment knowing it would not have any boundaries.
Hearing that, Zaina mentioned that even if she came onto the show "open," she wanted to see what J.R. was willing to compromise for their relationship. However, J.R. retorted, saying he was unaware he was being tested.

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On star expressed that people judged his relationship with Sandy without knowing their entire story. J.R. confessed that choosing Sandy was the "best possible situation" for him. He complimented her and her energy, satisfied to have spent his trial marriage with her.
J.R. called Sandy a "total package," praising her for being headstrong and driven. He liked her assertive personality and clear mindset.
