"So funny" — Love & Hip Hop: Miami fans react to Shay's breakup celebration

Season 6 of Love & Hip Hop: Miami released episode 7, Somebody's Husband, on Monday, December 30, 2024. In one of the segments of the episode, Shay went to her mother, Sandra's house to pick up her daughter Shajiyah. However, she was unaware that Sandra had planned a surprise party to celebrate her breakup with Fabo, hoping to uplift her mood and encourage her to move on.

Shay lost calm upon seeing her brother Emjay and Momma Dee waiting to celebrate her breakup. Unfortunately, Sandra's plan backfired and Shay broke down upon realizing they had ordered breakup-themed T-shirts and cake for the event. She criticized her mother for "glorifying" her pain by celebrating it.

A tearful Shay grabbed Shajiyah and stormed out of the house, calling her family "weird." Love & Hip Hop: Miami fans took to X to express their views of Shay's breakup party. While some said it was too soon to celebrate it, others urged the cast member to have fun and forget about Fabo.

"Shay’s family and Momma Dee throwing Shay a breakup party is so funny," a fan wrote.

"You know it’s bad when your friends and family get T-shirts printed and a cake made celebrating your breakup. My family would never," another fan commented.

"Shay is going through a serious public breakup, and her family has the audacity to be in a celebration of it... Too soon!" a netizen tweeted.

Many Love & Hip Hop: Miami fans were surprised Sandra threw a breakup party for Shay.

"If Shay decided to cuss them out. She wouldn't be wrong. Cuz why the f**k would her mama throw Shay a break up party and invite Momma Dee of all people," a user reacted.

"Shay’s mama ain’t sh*t why is she having a break up party," a person commented.

"Regardless , Shay is hurting & this ain’t the type of support she need at the moment when her world is falling apart," another fan wrote.

"Shay momma ain’t sh*t for clowning her daughter break up lol," one user posted.

In contrast, some Love & Hip Hop: Miami fans encouraged Shay to enjoy the party and move on from Fabo.

"Shay is so dramatic. I can understand the breakup is still painful but girl eat some cake and move on. Dude did you wrong for years," a person reacted.

"Shay smh no one is going to sit around crying with you after they already knew the end result. They told you so, eat the cake and smile," another netizen commented.

Love & Hip Hop: Miami: Emjay wrote a song to uplift Shay's mood

Shay sought emotional support from her family to put the past behind her and focus on new beginnings. Sandra assured the Love & Hip Hop: Miami star that she would soon meet her ideal man and experience love. While speaking to the cameras, Sandra confessed she would support Shay every step of the way and help her recover from her breakup.

As soon as Shay entered the house, Emjay, Momma Dee, and Shay's business manager, Gen screamed, "Surprise!" While Shay stared in disbelief, Emjay showed her the breakup-themed T-shirts and cake. However, Shay remained quiet and when she spoke, she said:

"This has been very, very, very hard for me and the fact that y'all here glorifying that we not together no more, that's not right."

While Sandra explained it was her way of showing support, the Love & Hip Hop: Miami star remained unconvinced. In a fit of rage, Shay slammed the cake on the floor and threw the T-shirts away. She criticized her family for making a joke out of her experience.

Meanwhile, Emjay played a song, titled Family Love, which he and Sandra created to show their support. However, it failed to convince Shay, who called the track "stupid." Ultimately, she took Shajiyah and left.
