Reality TV star Bethenny Frankel took to Instagram on July 11, 2024, to talk about her new home in The Hamptons, New York, calling it an "amazing place." The TV personality, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and author said that it was amazing because “it’s the farm meets beach meets woods.”
However, since its release, the video has garnered a lot of traction online for one of the comments made by Frankel during her pre-recorded session. The former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City said that The Hamptons had "all kinds of people" and "not only rich people," claiming that she wasn't joking.
“There are all kinds of people here. It’s not only rich people. That’s not a joke, okay? There are all kinds of people. There is a big Latin community here, big. There is um, the African American community here on the beach. Beautiful houses. I had a house there one summer,” she mentioned.
In the wake of her remarks, netizens began calling out Bethenny Frankel for seemingly hinting that the Latino and Black communities weren't "rich" enough to live in The Hamptons.
Social media users were commenting on The Neighborhood Talk's repost of Bethenny's Instagram video.
“So rich is a synonym for white?” a user, @badgirlgonebadder, asked.
Others joined in and slammed Bethenny Frankel for her statements, with many stating that Bethenny should have stopped talking.
However, some people didn't think Frankel was being biased and said that her comments were "harmless." Meanwhile, some said that while it was a "small island," it had a "lot of black history and a black community."
The former contestant of The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, has yet to address the criticisms. It is worth noting that the viral clip was part of larger footage showing Frankel decorating her new house in The Hamptons. In her caption, the reality star described the process as “unhinged” and quite a “workout.”
Bethenny Frankel announced the purchase of her Hamptons home in May
Bethenny Frankel shared the news of her new house in The Hamptons with an Instagram post in May 2024, depicting the beach-facing house. The former RHONY star also shared pictures of herself, her teenage daughter, Bryn, and their dogs.
“New summer, new home, new chapter… May your Memorial Day be filled with meaning, family, memories, and love. Be present, laugh, and don’t take yourself too seriously… love you! XOXO,” she wrote in the caption.
As per Hedges, the 53-year-old bought the 3500-square-foot residence in the Hamptons for $5.45 million in October 2023. The property overlooks Shinnecock Bay.
The publication also reported that the three-level house has a huge backyard with a swimming pool, a garden, a spa, and a wooden patio. It also has four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and multiple guest rooms, including a private suite with a deck overlooking the ocean. The property has an open-concept kitchen, dining, and living space, equipped with a fitting wooden fireplace and wine cellar.
Garrett Pike from the Pike-Counihan team of the Corcoran Group got her the deal on the house. They also helped the reality star with the renovation and decoration of her home, which she describes as a "hidden treasure."
