Season 1 of the reality TV series W.A.G.s to Riches was released on Netflix on January 22, 2025. The show follows the lives of the wives, girlfriends, and partners of celebrities—mainly musicians and athletes—as they navigate through careers, relationships, and motherhood.
Episode 1 of the season, titled Wives. And. Girlfriends., saw Maranda aka Mjaé, partner of rapper Kodak Black, talking about her relationship with him. She was seen with their two children, both under two years old, as she confided in Sharelle regarding her relationship.
When she met Sharelle at the children's play park, she opened up to her about Kodak's issues with infidelity. She told her how she felt hurt but was complacent with it because she couldn't help it. Sharelle advised her to take a step back and reflect on what she wanted and not indulge him if he wasn't giving her the peace she needed.

Fans of W.A.G.s to Riches subsequently came to X to criticize Mjaé for sticking up for Kodak.
"I need Mjae to STAND UP. Kodak is battling a drug addiction and had plenty of opportunities to change. He clearly not going to change until he wants to. Unfortunately Mjae you ain’t gone change him either. Move on before you lose yourself," a fan said.
"I want Mjae to wake the hell up. Wanting Kodak to be a husband when you been fighting other women is not smart," said another.
"Is MJae talking about making a husband out of the same Kodak that be on live wasting cereal on himself?" added one netizen.
"Maybe Mjae is a really sweet girl and maybe that interesting looking fella is her first love, she seems super young; but being a fool in public over Kodak Black is nuts," another wrote.
Some fans of W.A.G.s to Riches called Mjaé out for thinking of marrying Kodak Black.
"Mjae is delusion to even mention Kodak’s name when talking about marriage," an X user wrote.

The aftermath of Mjaé's physical altercation with Kodak Black's other baby mother on W.A.G.s to Riches episode 2
In episode 1 of W.A.G.s to Riches, when Mjaé opened up to Sharelle about the conflicts in her relationship, she mentioned how she broke the windows of Kodak's car because she caught him with another woman. The episode ended with Lastonia seeing the news of Mjaé's arrest after she got into a physical altercation with another baby mother of Kodak.
In episode 2, talking about the incident, Mjaé said that she didn't go on a boat ride with Kodak like she was supposed to, so her mother took her kids on the boat. She continued that while on the boat, one of Kodak's baby mothers made videos of herself dancing with Kodak, despite knowing Mjaé and he were together.
Mjaé further said that this act angered her, so she beat her when they encountered each other. She, however, added that she was going to think twice before acting on her anger from now on as she has kids and could risk harming her career.
