"Superstar in the making" — America's Got Talent fans react to Brooke Bailey's quarterfinal performance

America's Got Talent season 19 aired episode 11, Quarterfinals 2, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. 11 acts geared up to compete against each other at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, vying to secure a place in the finals. The lineup included three Golden Buzzer acts from the auditions — Schumacher, Legion, and Sky Elements.

One talented performance would receive the Live Shows Golden Buzzer from one of the judges, sending them straight to the finale. Last week, it was judge Sofia Vergara's turn to give away her Golden Buzzer and she pressed it for the Tanzania-based acrobat crew, Hakuna Matata.

In the latest episode, Howie Mandel used his Golden Buzzer to send the Japanese dance group AIRFOOTWORKS to the finale. While the other performances failed to earn the special opportunity, many left a lasting impression on the viewers. One such performer was singer Brooke Bailey, who performed a rendition of the song "Dancing on My Own."

Her vocals impressed the live audience but failed to excite Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell, who claimed her performance was average. America's Got Talent fans took to X to applaud her quarterfinal act. While they appreciated her talent, some pointed out that she had chosen the wrong song.

Although Brooke failed to secure the Golden Buzzer, viewers of the NBC show were enchanted by the musician's talent.

Brooke Bailey sings a song by singer-songwriter Robyn at the America's Got Talent quarterfinal

Before heading onto the stage, Brooke revealed she watched last week's quarterfinal from the audience to understand how the other singers managed the stage. She wanted to do research in order to implement the findings and improve her performance.

The 19-year-old singer wowed the audience with her rendition of "Dancing on My Own" by Robyn. They cheered and applauded as she hit the high notes with ease. Her act received a standing ovation from America's Got Talent judge Heidi Klum.

Sofia complimented the singer's outfit and said everything was "perfect" and "impeccable." However, Howie remarked that Brooke's performance failed to "hit the mark." Heidi disagreed with the statement and said the act was an "A++ performance." Simon confessed that the song's first half bored him, but the latter half somewhat impressed him.

The America's Got Talent contestant thanked the judges and hoped viewers would vote for her so she could continue her journey on the show.
