Taylor Frankie Paul, a prominent figure in the #MomTok community, opened up about how rumors on Reddit led to the soft-swinging scandal that shocked MomTok in 2022. Known for its parenting and lifestyle content, MomTok consists of Mormon influencers, many of whom have now been linked to the fallout of Paul's revelation.

In June 2022, Paul made headlines when she revealed that her marriage to Tate Paul was ending. What made this news more shocking was her subsequent admission that her friend group had been engaged in "soft swinging"—an arrangement in which couples would engage in intimate activities but not go "all the way."

In Hulu's new docuseries, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which aired on September 6, Taylor Frankie Paul explained that Reddit rumors about her cheating on her then-husband were the catalyst for her going public. She shared that the rumors deeply impacted her life, leading to misunderstandings about what had actually taken place.

"I got on a TikTok live," Taylor Frankie Paul revealed in the series. "I, at least, wanted to explain that to people. My husband wanted to share. He did want to open that up. So it’s like, I caught feelings for a man that my husband welcomed into our house."

The situation became more complicated as rumors began to spread online, with accusations of her cheating, and Paul felt the need to set the record straight.

Taylor Frankie Paul opens up about soft-swinging, jealousy, and cheating rumors

Taylor Frankie Paul expanded on this during the September 4 episode of The Viall Files, a popular podcast, clarifying that the soft-swinging arrangement among her MomTok friends had been going on for over a year. She provided details about how the arrangement worked, including interactions between couples at cabin parties and intimate moments that happened in close proximity to one another.

"We do this for a while with this couple, cabin parties, making out in the same bed, in*er*ourse in the same bed next to each other, the girls kissing and the husbands touching the other's wife," Paul recalled.

However, things took a turn when feelings started to develop, leading to jealousy and tension among the group. Taylor Frankie Paul admitted that she and her ex-husband Tate Paul were not on the same page about scaling back on the arrangement, which eventually contributed to the breakdown of their marriage.

As the situation spiraled, rumors of cheating began to spread, fueled by comments on Reddit. Taylor Frankie Paul described how her TikToks were flooded with comments labeling her as a "cheater" and a "husband stealer," and how her friends seemed to confirm these accusations by liking the posts.

"I don’t know who did it, but it ended up hitting the internet," Taylor Frankie Paul explained. "All my TikToks were like, 'Cheater, husband stealer.' And the girls were liking it, confirming it, my friends. So I was like okay, well if you’re gonna do that, I'm just gonna go tell my story."

She continued,

"So I got online, not thinking at all, but like, 'Hey yes, I did do this, but we were also all hooking up just the other night.' It just didn’t feel like it was fair."

Taylor Frankie Paul's admission sent shockwaves through the MomTok community, with widespread speculation about which influencers were involved. The Hulu series, which premiered Friday, delves into the aftermath of the scandal, exploring how Paul and her friends dealt with the chaos.

While many initially distanced themselves from Paul, some, like Jessi Ngatikaura, ultimately stood by her, emphasizing the strength of female friendship.

Despite the turbulence, Paul has since moved on and is now married to Dakota Mortensen, with whom she shares a child.
