Netflix's popular reality competitive series, The Circle, is set to air its season 7 finale next week. Much like the rest of the season, the show dropped new episodes every Wednesday, with the latest batch of segments on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The four-part installment (episodes 9-12) saw the cast further navigate the ups and downs of the game as two more players were eliminated and one finalist was confirmed. For the first time in the show's history, Netflix introduced a unique twist, as contestants received video calls from their loved ones.
When Madelyn's family called her, the cast member started crying and compared being on The Circle to her days in "Middle School." Fans reacted to the conversation online, with one person writing on X:
"Madelyn. Terrible person. Full stop. And her family hyping her up to be horrible “for the game” Talking bout “remember when I was young and I used to talk behind my friends backs…” yeah you got a history of it and you ain’t changed. It’s not just for the game."
"Madelyn’s brother (?) looked soooo done with her during the family FaceTime. Like, watch the whole video… when she says she been feeling like a sh*t person he mouths “cuz you are”, I swear just look!! IM CRINE TEARS," a fan commented.
"Yooooo #TheCircle is getting wild. Madelyn’s brother totally lipped “You Are” when she said she was feeling like a ‘sh*t person’ … editors made a choice to show it. Love that they did," a tweet read.
The Circle season 7 fans chimed in on Madelyn's brother's reactions:
"Did anybody pin the brother in the back left-side of the video chat w/ Madelyn's family??? When she tells the family she had to do sneaky things and how she doesn't want them to think she is a s*** person. HE CLEARLY MOUTHS, "b/c you are!" a fan commented.
"Wayment! Did yall see Madelyn's brother mouth "you are" after she said she feels like a sh—t person?! Omg! Madelyn's own family can't even stand her!" a fan commented.
"Um….Madelyn’s brother does NOT like her. Did you see him mouth “you are”, when she said she felt like a sh*t person??????" a tweet read.
The Circle season 7 fans further said:
"Not Madelyn reminiscing on the video chat with her family about her childhood drama. I hope now they see she was the problem the whole time," a person wrote.
"Not surprised Madelyn from #TheCircleNetflix doesn’t like soap, dirty inside and outside and the call from her family also confirming that she is a conniving mean girl," a tweet read.
"Had to do some sneaky things" — Madelyn opens up about her strategy while in conversation with her family in The Circle season 7 episode 11
In The Circle season 7 episode 11, titled, Incoming Calls, the contestants received video calls from their family or friends. When Madelyn received the call, she started crying.
She asked her family if they remembered when The Circle season 7 star was in middle school and would fight with her friends. She wondered whether they remembered that they used to "all talk behind each other's backs." She said that was "happening" on the Netflix show.
Her family members told her it was her chance to "heal" her "childhood trauma" and her "inner child." Madelyn discussed her strategy so far with her family.
"I came in here playing myself because I wanted to be myself and be authentic, but I've also, like, had to do some sneaky things. So then, it's like, making me feel like I'm a sh*t person," she said.
As the cast member continued talking about eliminating Andy aka Heather, her brother mouthed "You are" in response to Madelyn being a "sh*t person." Madelyn added that she didn't know what her "best move" moving forward was.
The Circle season 7 contestant's family told her it was okay to hurt people's feelings since she could apologize later. She mentioned that it was a "game" and "everything" was good.
Fans reacted to the interaction online and were critical of Madelyn's strategy.
The Circle season 7 will air its season finale on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 on Netflix.
