"That's too far" — Selling Sunset fans react to Mary and Jason getting matching tattoos in memory of their dog Niko

Selling Sunset season 8 aired episodes 1-11 on Netflix on Friday, September 6, 2024. The season saw many ups and downs as several cast members' personal lives were put on display.

One moment involved Mary and Jason, former partners, who received bad news about their dog, Niko, who was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure. They learned they only had days left with him. As a way to keep Niko's memory alive, the two got matching tattoos and even had his ashes incorporated into the ink.

Jason and Mary show their tattoo to Selling Sunset cast in season 8

When Brett informed the Selling Sunset season 8 cast members that Jason and Mary lost Niko, the realtors decided to throw the pair a potluck to support them. While there, Jason told Mary that he got a new paw tattoo.

"We put Niko's ashes in the ink, then we tattooed our arms," Jason said.

In a confessional, Mary chimed in on her and Jason's tattoos and said that some people thought it was "a little creepy." She added that there were also people who thought it was "very cool." She said that it was "meaningful" to the Selling Sunset season 8 stars. She stated that Niko was a part of them.

Nicole commented on the tattoo while talking to the cameras and said it sounded a "little concerning." Jason further revealed that he and Mary were "co-parenting" the ashes. Later in the episode, Brett toasted to the pair and offered support. Chrishell asked Mary how she was doing, and while talking about her other dog, Zelda, she said she had become a "pushover."

"I'm like, Oh, she's going through some things. I give her whatever she wants," she said.

She further said that she and Jason were doing "better." She added she could talk about Niko's passing without "completely breaking down."

In the following episode, the Selling Sunset season 8 pair had a funeral for Niko, and everyone attended. The two revealed that they had ordered food from McDonalds for everyone since that was Niko's last meal. They wanted them to share his final meal to memorize him.
