HGTV's latest home improvement reality show The Flip Off is set to be released on the channel on January 29, 2025, at 8 pm ET/PT. It will premiere with a two-hour episode, followed by new episodes released every Wednesday at the same time.

The Flip Off will feature Tarek El Moussa and his ex Christina Haack, along with El Moussa's wife Heather Rae El Moussa. It is worth noting that Haack's ex, Josh Hall was also supposed to be on the show. However, Haack and Hall announced their separation in July 2024, while filming the show. Some of their tense exchanges will be a part of a few of the episodes but the creators confirmed Hall's exit and announced that Christina will continue solo.

The cast members will compete to see who can find and flip a house for the biggest financial gain. Each episode will feature different challenges and drama between the teams, with guest judges including Tarek and Christina's mothers.

The Flip Off premise and what to expect

Announced in May 2024, HGTV's latest reality show, The Flip Off will see two exes competing to "find, buy, renovate, and flip a house for the biggest financial game." The exes, Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack will compete with each other with their partners, Heather Rae El Moussa and Josh Hall, respectively, by their sides.

However, after Christina and Josh announced their split during filming, HGTV confirmed they would move forward with Christina competing solo against Tarek and Heather.

Each episode of The Flip Off will feature different challenges with guest judges, including Tarek and Christina's mothers, Dominique and Laurie, respectively. The other guest judges will include Izzy Battres, The Real Housewives of Orange County's Heather Dubrow, and Christina's other ex, Ant Anstead, among others.

The winning team of each weekly renovation challenge will receive $2000 from the losing team to use on the next week's house flipping project. In the finale of The Flip Off, the winning team will be awarded a first-class vacation paid for by the losing team, along with some forfeit for the loser.

Teasers and posts about the show featured fights between Haack and Hall along with some footage of the new dynamic between the cast. The cast has shared that filming was relatively harmonious despite some initial reservations from Heather about working with Tarek's ex-wife.

Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack previously hosted Flip or Flop in 2013

Before they were set to compete in The Flip Off, Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack hosted another home-flipping show, called Flip or Flop. The show premiered in 2013 and followed them as they purchased homes, typically bank-owned ones in the Orange County area, to renovate and resell.

Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa were married at the time of the filming of Flip or Flop but announced their split in 2016, officially divorcing in 2018. They got married in 2009 and share two kids.

It is worth noting that they continued appearing on Flip or Flop for 10 seasons until 2022 when the show was canceled due to growing differences between them.

Tarek El Moussa got married to former Selling Sunset star Heather Rae in 2021 and had their son in 2023. Meanwhile, Haack married TV presenter Ant Anstead in 2018 and they had a son in 2019 before they separated in 2020.

Haack went on to marry Josh Hall in 2021 before announcing their split during filming on The Flip Off. She spoke about her separation from Hall in a teaser for The Flip Off when Tarek visited her after the split was announced. The clip showed Christina breaking down and telling Tarek how her kids were the ones who pushed her to leave Hall.

"They told me he's not nice to me. Why would I stick around?" she said in the teaser.

The Flip Off will premiere with a two-hour episode on January 29, 2025, at 8 pm ET/PT only on HGTV. The show will also be available to stream on Max and Amazon Prime.
